best tuner

im in the market for a tuner, but i dont know which one to get. I have a 1998 4.6 with an AF1 and flowmaster. i talked to a guy at a local shop and he said that an edge wasnt going to do much for my 4.6. so what is the tuner for a 4.6 then?

I ran the Superchips Microtuner 1715 and it was like nite and day. In fact, I just sold the tuner because I'm going for forced induction in the very near future and I'm honestly depressed. The truck is boring without the tuner. I'll be talking to Mike about some custom tunes or if I did it again with 'canned' tunes, it would be the Edge Evo. It WILL do something to our 4.6's.

Good Luck.

Run what you want, but there are good, there are bad, and there are down right ugly. I went through the same process as you, wandering which to choose.....I chose one and used it for less than a year before swapping out after massive problems. Call mike, and record the conversation cause the man is a veritable fountain of information

The 1715 sucked on my 4.6. I had the Edge and LOVED it. Go with the Edge if you want the gauges and the ability to fiddle with your tunes. If not, then an XCalII tuned by Mikey T.

X2 with Zaairman....

I also have the edge and can tell you that it will do something for our 4.6's and you will love it. I hate to drive mine stock any more.

I kinda doubt that anyone's gonna take a third-party tuner in exchange for credit.
Try and sell it on the classifieds here or on ebay.

"What the hell you mean you won't cash my third-party, out of state, post-dated check?!"

Like that.
