superchips fuel milage settings

Hey all,

when i bought my 5.4 4X4 ext cab 00' f150 a few months ago it came with a superchips 1715. Recently I've gotten to playing with it. Before the superchip (stock program installed and only an airforce 1 c.a. intake) The best mileage I saw was 17.8 mixed city and highway, which i thought was awesome. Now, I drive a truck, I know it costs money to put gas in it, that doesn't bother me, I'm not complaining. That being said, Doesn't mean i don't want to save as much money as possible.

I could care less if it's fast... I have an LS1 transam to go fast and shift hard. What I am trying to do is find the MOST fuel effecient/ cost effective setting, whether it be within the 87 octane program or the 91 performace program. Specifically what I am talking about is adjusting the shift points/pressure in an attempt to increase fuel economy. I have experimented a little with shift pressure and the shift points but I don't personally notice a difference to where it's shifting (i've only messed with it a little). Anyone have any insite as to whether or not lowering the shift point for 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 will prove more, even if only slightly, cost effective? remember that saving gas $$ is my main goal, not performance, i drive the truck slow anyway

As of now i have the shift point for 2-3 set 2 points above the middle setting (as per some posts in here which advertise that setting, for some reason, will help the car get into o.d. faster after pulling a load, up a hill, etc.) I havn't run it enough to really notice if this has had an effect on milage or even if it really does shift back to od quicker. Just hoped someone has already tried what i'm trying to do and can give me some insite before i spend months messing with the programming. (right now i'm playing with the 87 octane setting because that's whats in my truck).

I appreciate the help, perhaps Mike T has some clue, though i'm sure he's more "performance" oriented.
