87 Performance and Towing

Hey Guys!! Quick question. I know you are not suppose to tow on anything but your tow tune but I am hopefully picking up my boat on Friday and wanted to see if it was ok to tow 30 miles on the 87 Performance. The boat is a 20 foot boat and weighs probably about 4500 lbs. Would it really hurt towing it that short of a distance on the tune. I just filled up and I know I wont burn enough gas to get to the 93 octane to be able to run the 93towing tune...

It's instances like this when a 87 tow tune comes in handy. Since you don't have a 3.5 AF1 you can always return to the stock tune to tow. That should do the trick. This is why I have an 87 tow tune always on the tuner just in case.

I think most would advise against it...

While I agree that it's a short distance and really not that beefy of a load, I'd err on the cautious side.

Alright!!! Maybe I will just use Brew's truck to tow it back. He runs 93 Performance all the time, so I can change it to 93 tow and will be good to go... hahaha...

Hey Brett.... How have you been??? Long time no talk. Tom and I are hopefully going out to Missouri around June 15th to see Zach... You should make your way down to say hello...

I'd say just tow it, especially for that short of a distance. I'd tow anything with my Edge on the 93 setting with the timing bumped up in the F-150. And I'm sure RP will come out as long as we don't go to Johnny's. That is, unless we need a refresher course on how to operate a light switch.

I may be due for a refresher by that point in time... of course, the baby on the way might be the wildcard on whether or not I have to attend class at the University of Technology and Underwater Basketweaving Missouri-Rolla campus or if I attend at Podunk Univershiittey - Kentucky.

It's fine. We'll let it go this once.... I'm typically not this nice of a guy -- trust me, I've been called worse (ask Marc Carpenter -- Marc still needs a Bubba Keg).

The next time, I change your username to DancingFairy-F150

Haha... I'm not the lazy one here.. Her nickname should be Sleeping Beauty. And last time I checked, my truck has been waxed more times in the past month than your truck has been waxed since you've owned it...
