Getting new edge Fri . thanks all

I've been reading this forum for weeks trying to deciede on what to get. So I ordered the edge and then I joined the forum. Just wanted to say thanks everyone. I did learn alot from you guys.
I tow a heavy trailer with my F150 07 5.4 supercrew, and really needed a oil temp gauge and then I saw the chip forum so I picked it. So the oil temp gauge was going to cost me 200 at a shop so the edge realy only cost me 250. LOL thanks all.

Hi I'm new here also so interested in why you chose the edge.

I had a 92 F-150 4X4 until 2001 and did the mustang GT thing for the last six years and am happy to be back in a truck.

I have a 2006 F150 4X4 supercab Lariat with the 5.4L and 3.73 limited slip and don't plan on doing many mods at this time. Have added a K&N air filter but mainly looking for better performance and mileage.

Anybody that can chime in on the improvement in mileage on the edge or Xcal 2 I would appreciate the input. I get about 13.5 mpg combo freeway and city.

With the mods in my Sig. I get about 17 on highway 14.5 town(roughly) w/ the edge on level 2. I havent been able to cruise just the highway yet on a tank with my truck alone. The only time Im really on a rode trip Im towing a boat or trailer.

I have an '04 w/ a 4.6 and the EDGE doesn't read the oil temp and I think all of the '07's have the same issue. There's no oil temp sensor in the truck. Maybe I'm wrong though.......

I was going to get a oil temp gauge for my towing, and that was going to cost $200 at local dealer. So the edge does that and gives me more power for only $250 more. I get more power, even more gauges to play with. its a win win situation. I've seen others on this site who have the 5.4 07 that use the edge so I hope I can.
What is the PCM thing he is talking about.????????

Sorry I ment to say the trans temp , not oil, DA I have engine oil, It's the trans I don't have. Sorry

edge is somewhat slow, with fomoco coming out with new computer codes every year, it takes edge a year to catch up. so if your code is not supported by edge yet, when you plug it in you get a no start on the truck and brick it

and the 4.6 doesn't have the oil temp sensor, only the 5.4, so if you had the 4.6 you wouldn't want the edge for the reasons you spoke of.

If a particular hex code is not supported by the Edge, then the Edge will not program the truck. Nothing in the PCM will be changed. The good news is that simply plugging the Edge into a truck with an unsupported calibration will not "brick" the truck.

Instead, you'll simply get error code "0xF1" after the Edge reads the PCM. For more information, see the "Troubleshooting" section on page 36 in the Edge owner's manual.

Got the edge, and well had problems with the download on my Computer. turns out it was the 3 different firewalls on my computer and hub. Well after working with tech for an hour we got it going. I wanted to go and try it out, but wife and kid are standing at door waiting to go camping so I hooked up the camper and off we went. I can tell you this , wow it was a difference. I can now keep OD on. I like the way my truck runs with the trailer now. The trans temp is a plus. If some of the other chips can give more power then the edge all I can say is wow. But I really needed the trans temp gauge. So I would tell any one who wants a chip to get the edge. My brother wants one now but they don't make on for the Titan.

I hear ya

I got the edge for the same reasons. Nice power difference when towing. We are heading on a long trip in a few weeks and I am interested in seeing the difference. I display the ECT, EOT, Trans Temp, and IMPG. With the price of fuel, the IMPG lets you see just were you are loosing the MPG. Speed definately makes a difference. On average I saw a ±2 MPG increase using the tuner alone. I hope you enjoy the tuner as much as I do.

Good Luck,
