"Tricking the Tuner"
"Tricking the Tuner"
I have a Superchips 1714 for my '04 screw. I have 3.55 gears that are a little slow off the line. Is there any way of "tricking the truck" by telling the programmer that I have different gears? Like if I punched in 3.73 or higher would it help matters by reprogramming the engine to have some more grunt? I doubt this is possible but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks fellas.

Sorry - that won't work. You'll only end up peckering your speedo & tranny shift points.
You could invest in either gears and/or a custom tuner for more grunt.
Good luck

I can't see the reason for the sluggish starts except the tuner and tunes.I have 3:55 in an 06 with a 4.2 v6 auto, Troyer tuned and I smoke the tires (33" B F Goodrich rugged trails). It is great out of the hole,so I would say change tuners and tunes.
The Edge manual says.
"When drag racing, changing to a higher gear will provide more torque off the line. There are formulas that show the best gears to use based on HP, vehicle weight, as well as other factors. Be aware that when running higher gears your engine will run at higer RPM's and your fuel economy will suffer."
IMO i would say you could tell the tuner that you have 4.56's and it wont do much except empty your tank faster.

The edge manual is refering to actually changing the gears in the rear end.. not programing changes. You will gain nothing by telling the computer you have different gears.. in fact it chould wreck the way the truck drives.

No, the edge manual is definatly refering to "tricking the truck". If you tell the programmer that you have 4.56's it will make the truck shift like you had 4.56's. I agree it would probly wreck the way the truck drives
