superchips tire BARK

Hello,

Im looking into buying a superchips tuner for my 5.4 single cab flareside f150 and i wanted to know if i could adjust the shift points to bark into seccond gear. My truck chirps into seccond on occasion now but i was looking for a good solid bark to let the ricers know what they are messing with.

Reg. Cab Flareside
5.4 triton
215 RWHP
290 RWTQ
Flowmaster American Thunder
K&N 77 Series
Air Raid TBS<<<<trying to remove ( i lost the stock bolts)

i picked up a superchip for my rig, it allowed me to change shift points along with a bunch of other stuff, i never stomped on it to see if it would chirp in
2nd BUT not even at wot you can really feel it when it shifts to 2nd & 3rd, the rig jumps/jerks when it shifts

The trans is what I can really feel with the superchip. I never did it but with the good stuff and the tunner set to perfomance......it just might do it!!

Extreme line pressure increases and a pre-04 tranny do not mix.

Far safer to use a FTVB, separator plate or transgo to get the shift firmness you want.

I have a factory tech seperator plate in my 2001 supercab and it'll grab rubber after the 1-2 shift, (that's with no tune since I sold my hypertech to offset the someof the cost of the Xcal2)

I can't wait to get my tune from troyers so I can run the 24# injectors and better shift points

Hi timebomb,

What I suggest is to call us before doing anything, so that we can go over this with you in some detail.

There are some trucks that this can be done on in the 1997-2003 model year range, and some you just don't want to try that via tuning changes alone - so the real answer is that some can be made to do that, and some cannot, and then some can be made to do that safely without overworking the front pump, while others cannot.

So that is why I say give us a call and ask for me personally, tell our staff I asked you to call so they will put you thru to me, and I will get the info I need and go over this with you to let you know if this is going to be the route to go.

With regard to the Factory Tech valve bodies & separator plates, I hate to say it but right now, we cannot recommend them at this time due to some past problems with quality that caused transmission problems and the lack of service when there is a problem. We have not been able to reach him by phone for over 2 years, for example. Yes, some of them work fine, that is very true - at one point in time (early on) we moved a lot of them and had no problems, but then after some time, we started to see his valve bodies & sep plates cause transmission problems that had nothing to do with installation - yet he always blamed the installation, despite the fact that all of the installs were done by professional transmission shops that knew what they were doing. He also provides next to no documentation for those parts - you must have the Ford service manual procedure and his info to do it right, and few people doing their own installs have access to that. A shop like us can install them OK, but for the DIY'er it's tough to do right unless they get a copy of the Ford service procedures.

I hope that at some point he changes this, and starts putting out the quality product consistently as he used to, as we'd love to be able to support him again. We like Gregg, and want to see him do well - and I don't mean to knock him here.

Anyway, there is another route to take there in case the tranny actually needs a mechanical mod to make it safely bark the tires on the 1-2 like you want (and I agree, that is a very nice thing to have ), and we can help you with that as well as with the tuning, if need be, no problem!

So just give us a shout at our number below, OK?

Thanks!
