Trucks & mileage is almost a non sequitur

Tires inflated to max
Keep your foot out of the throttle
Don't race or speed
Use cruise on the hiway
Use a custom Economy tune - XCal2, Livewire, etc (TP writes econo tunes) - https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...64&postcount=3
Use high octane, high BTU-content, high quality fuels with above tune ( search for the term BSFC to understand why)
Weight reduction
Lower the truck - (aeros)
Reduce rotating mass
Comprehensive vehicle maintenance
Plan your trips - avoid prolonged idling
Take public transit when possible
Ride a bicycle ( my approach )
... mostly common sense stuff ...

The best increase is a light foot! A tuner does help but then it is more fun to smash the gas pedal down.

Make your girlfriend/wife drive with gas that she pays for. Thats what I do. Saves a lot of gas, but your restaurant and flower spending goes way up.

Hi Jason,

MGDFan gave some good tips to read.

In terms of what tuning you want to use to actually get the best fuel mileage (or the best towing, or the best performance), that is our custom tuning.

We provide a set of 3 different custom tunes, set up for each individual vehicle owner's needs, so that they have maximum flexibility - for example, we can provide you with say, a fuel economy tune, a towing tune, and a performance tune, just for one example.

Now keep in mind that even the best tuning is not going to make these trucks get "great" fuel mileage but the fuel mileage can be improved on by having us do a fuel economy type of tune as one of your tunes.

the best thing to do is to give us a call so we can go over that with you in proper detail - see, it's not a matter of the brand name of the tuning device itself (meaning the hardware), what determines your results is the actual *tuning inside, and we have specialized in F-150 tuning for over 15 years, far longer than anyone else on the planet - it's what we are known for.

So we can give you literally the best of all worlds, doing a setup where we do something like an MPG tune, a towing-compatible tune, and then an all-out performance tune, just for example, if you would like to approach it that way - some people want tunes for different levels of octane as well - all of that and more is possible, that is the beauty of our custom tuning, you can get it set up for *your* needs & desires.

I hope that brief info helps, & please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below to go over any of this in more detail, OK?

Take care,
