I replaced mine w/ a new belt and still have the squeel.I didn't use a gatorback which i should have. Many others have used them and prob solved.I would try it but am too cheap to buy another one until this one wears outYou should have no prob changing it yourself.Takes about 10-15min,just make sure you have a breaker bar for the tensioner.Pop your hood and you should have a diagram showing where the belt goes.

So with the Edge making all this extra power...actually causing the belt to squeek...will it harm my engine in the long run or the tranny if I put the gatorback it? Im sure it wont but just wanted to know what you guys think. Do you know if they make gatorbacks for different belts...cause I called the guy and asked if he had one for my truck and he said ya...I didnt ask it was for the serpintine belt...but do you think he thought thats the one Im talking about?

The accessory drive belt has nothing to do with your tranny. There are numerous belt sizes available, but only one size for your application. I recommend a search for your exact size..

When your transmission shifts REALLY hard, it slows the engine down so fast that the accessories' rotating mass keeps them spinning at the higher speed for a while. That's what causes the belt squeel on the shift. Level 2 on my truck is hell. I can't imagine why anyone would want to run it. I leave mine on level 3. It is just as fast and it doesn't shift as hard. I have had no problems with pinging using 87 octane. I have done this for around 35-40,000 miles. (I'm at 203,000 right now)

What does "pinging" mean again? Level two isnt too bad...actualy it runs pretty good. I havent tried level 3 but I will try it probably on next fill up. I put about 40 miles on this tank and had WOT a few times and am averging 16 miles mpg on the display with a 50/50 highway city mix.

I got a few questions. What do you guys usualy got for the MAF? I have seen it get up to as high as around 130 when I have gottin on it hard. Also, my ECT is always around 198...is this OK? Sorry for all the questions but just trying to see if everything is in check.

Thanks

mgp32 - ECT of 198 degrees is fine & normal. Ignore the MAF reading - you can't do anything with it & the units mean nothing to most folks.

I just replaced my belt yesterday, 4/27, and I don't think the new one is slipping. It definitely isn't squeeling like before, but it may have a slight slip at WOT shift. I might even bump my shift pressure down slightly. I have a Predator programmer. I believe I'm at 70% now. When this belt starts squeeling at shift I'll take it back because of the 2 year warrantee and get this Gatorback ya'll speak of. I wish I would've known about it before. Oh well. This on seems much better and my old one was done anyway. It would squeel at first start of the day if it had rained or really humid for about 10 seconds.
