Edge Caused Limp Home Mode?

Ok so I have had the Edge Evo on my '04 F150 for about three weeks now and I have had no problems with it. Two days ago I started my truck up and the small wrench lite up on the left site of my guage cluster. My truck ran like crap so I pulled over and the owners manual said that the truck was in a limp home mode. I returned my PCM to stock and restarted the truck. The icon was gone and the truck has been running great for two days now with the Edge unhooked and the PCM back to stock. Has anyone had this? I am a little concerned now and I don't think I will be putting the Edge back on, I just don't want to risk it. I don't think it could be anything other than the Edge either. If there was a problem with the truck then even after the Edge was taken off I would assume it would still be in the limp home mode.

It will be hard to say what would have casued it because you didn't pull the code with the Edge. Mine has gone into reduced power mode a couple of times due to the TPS I think its called. When ever it does this i just read the code to see what the problem was and then clear it. So the only way your gionna be able to find out what is wrong is to see if the code is still in there or not.

Wrench light means electronic throttle control malfunction. Many 04s have had the throttle body replaced for this problem. It may not have had anything to do with the Edge. The throttle actuator, throttle position sensor, and some other things could cause this.

If one of those were bad then wouldn't the truck still be in that condition with the wrench light?? I didn't even think to try and read the code. When the light went away after taking the Edge out I figured that the edge was the problem. Just don't want the Edge messing up my truck so I am going to not run the Edge anymore.

I still wonder why I got that wrench light. I can only assume if one of those items were going bad that I would still be having problems.

I have read posts from other folks that had similar problems and the trouble was intermittent. I would suggest running it stock for a while to see what happens. Then try the Edge again and see if you have any trouble.

maybe not, re writing the pcm probably cleared the code and any history of a problem and it could just be a matter of time till it comes back

I would run the edge and see if it happens again. It didn't leave you stranded, you were able to program the truck to stock and been fine since. I would trust it to do it again. If it throws a light again, find out what codes it has. You need to do this so you can figure out if it is a problem with the truck sensors, or components, or the edge. I doubt it is the edge.
