Edge MAF reading

Guys quick question.. I was playing around with my edge, and was monitoring the MAF, which is suppose to be air/Fuel ratio right? anyhoo mine reads 1.0, my question is what is it suppose to be, and what is not good, like 4.0=to lean, or -4 to lean/rich?? any clue?

MAF should be Mass Air Flow. I don't think it tells you anything about air/fuel ratio.

True.

A/F ratio not displayed on the EDGE.

I belive the manual says the units measured are gm/sec? This would be the mass (not volume) of air entering the engine. Anyway, I set my display to look at this and it always stayed on 1. It never changed. Maybe this function does not work on some. Mine is an 05 FX4.

Mine changes constantly, my lowest is usually 6.0 and highest was 60 something I think, if yours never changes you might need to clean your MAF or you may be right and the function doesn't work with '05's but I doubt that if it works on mine. good luck

• MAF (mass air flow) – Used to determine air/fuel ratio. The value displayed is divided by 100. (Example: 5.4 displayed = 540 g/s)

That was copied directly from the online manual from edge. what it represents exactly...????????????

The mass airflow sensor measures the amount of air that is entering the engine.

The measurement unit is grams per second.

The PCM uses many "inputs" (amount of air intake, throttle position, vacuum, engine coolant temp, oxygen sensor, etc., etc.) to make decisions as to what "outputs" to make (spark advance, cam advance, injector dwell time, shift points, etc., etc.)
