Edge Speedo Correction Problems
Edge Speedo Correction Problems
Ive had my edge since Christmas time and love it...the only thing is my speedo is still of in my 2004 fx4 with 3.73 ls and 35 in pro comp a/t's...i used the recommended mm measurement and then measured and either way its 5 mph off i dont kno wat to do????
These trucks have a built in 2-4 mph error from the factory. Don't know why.
If you used the rolling method and got a good reading on the tires and the proper mm to plug into the formula, then check your odometer. It shoud be right on. Your speedometer will be off 2-3 mph still.
So it the odometer is right on, then your EDGE settings are good. It's just the Ford speedometer. What I did is go with the bigger tires on my work truck and it caused the speedometer to be right on, but the odometer is reading slow.
Do you have a GPS to compare speed?

I checked my Edge with a GPS. My factory speedometer was 4 mph fast while my Edge was 2 mph fast.
I prefer to have a slightly slower odometer.

However, my Edge is programmed correctly as it was tested against the readings of a GPS. You can do the same by lowering your input number slightly to get you speedometer and Edge to clock slower. Lets say you programmed a number around 2660 for the tire diameter, lower that number by small increments to around 2655, 2657, etc. and then check with a GPS and mile markers on a highway for at least 10 miles. This will be a trial-and-error procedure and takes awhile to achieve correctly.

Anyone else get a ghost in their truck after installing the Edge, since I have installed mine I have had all kinds of weird quirks going on, like my radio just shutting off out of the blue and the wipers and windows have been intermittently working. The guy at Edge said it probably isn't the edge module, but I think it may be since I just put it in a couple of days ago and now all of the sudden these things are happening.

I did notice that on occasion I activate the wipers when using the turnsignal.
But that's it. No problems like you describe.
as far as speedo being off, the government allowence is 4mph max. the japanese companies are being sued right now because they proved that they did it to the electronic speedo... so that miles racked up quicker.. so they go out of warantee faster. the electronic speedo on our vehicles should be right on. The one you read is most likely off. On the lariat modles there is a way to access the computer mph on the display screen... do that and compare with the regular speedo.
