level 2 edge settings while towing

I understand that my edge is not supposed to run on level 3 while towing. I have always run it on level 2 while towing my travel trailer with no customizing done. Would it even be worth it for me to put premium gas in and bump up the settings on level 2, such as timing, shifts? Or would it be so minimal that I probably wouldnt feel a thing? Or is this stupid and would hurt my truck as it would be compared to what level 3 is with no customizing. Let me know what you guys do, maybe the whole idea is dumb and I will leave it alone like I have for the last 6 months.

Level 2 IS a customised tune! Tranny shift points & engine performance are not stock. You can add timing for additional octane rating.

Maybe I should have worded the question a little differently. I am well aware of the fact that level two is not the stock tune and is customized to add powr and change transmission shift. However, my question was do you think there is anything to gain by changing the settings in level 2 more than they already are set to? Is there anything to gain by doing that

Yes, just change them and see.

Before you change the settings, you might want to just go with 89 octane fuel and see if it helps. During the hot, dry summers, I found my truck to idle better and to be overall smoother running by just going from 87 to 89 octane while in level 2.

From the EDGE manual:

This level is designed to run with 87 octane fuel, although you may realize additional benefits by running 89 octane (or better) fuel. You should see an improvement in fuel economy as well as added horsepower and torque. When towing a heavy load such as a boat or camper, we recommend you using this setting.

Definitely,

I changed my 1-2 and 2-3 settings all the way up and it makes the truck keep its momentum better accelerating, instead of that kinda weak "maybe I'll shift now" attitude the trans has stock. I dont know if running the extra timing with a heavy load is a good idea though, such as bumping the timing or going to level 3.

You should be OK with 1 degree. Be sure to listen for detonation (pinging) under throttle. If you get any pinging back the timing off. I run straight level 2 with no customization for my everyday with 87 oct.

quick ?

Hey guys, do you know if you can return the Edge to stock, like the way it was before any updates? (new out of box cond.) Since i have done updates my truck has been quirky. what i mean when I have it tuned my wipers, radio, and fuel gage don't always work, but eventually come around and work but not always, I have called Edge in regards to the issue but didn't ask if I could return the unit to stock.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Hi.

Well, you'd need the firmware revision that the unit was shipped with initially.

Lemme ask you a Q... if you installed a new appliance in your home and the lights started to flicker, other appliances started to cack, etc, what would you do? Me, I'd just unplug & return the damned thing and buy one that worked. Unlike your house, a flakey vehicle accessory that causes these kinds of problems can vey well leave you stranded, or worse (70 mph in the fast lane)

Some folks just love to be unintentional beta testers ...

Hey MGDfan, thanks for the info but I think that I may have found out what it was, not the tuner at all (sorry edge) but anyways I had a remote start unit installed in my truck a couple of weeks ago and one of the plugs in my steering column wasn't getting a good connection, everything seems good now.
But thanks again bro
