Which tuner is the BEST!!!!!!

I have a 97 f150 with the 5.4 brute force cold air, Throttle body spacer, with true duals no muffler, with an automatic trans. I want the tuner that will give me torque, top end, great shifts, and all and all the most power i can get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a VERY subjective question that will probably lead to nothing but argument.

I have the edge evo on my '97 and I like it.

Then you can read a review like this that is in favor of the Edge who had a Xcal2. Read post 31 and 32.

It makes a big difference when running high octane fuel. It doesn't make much difference in acceleration otherwise. Except the trans slamming into gear. That's why I leave mine on level 3. It is MUCH less aggressive with the transmission than level 2.

The major difference on level 3 is "snappier" low end, and a harder pulling top end.

The major difference on level 2 is the trans shifts very violent. I don't care what people say about it being "good" for the transmission. It's too hard for me. So I keep it on level 3.

My shifts w/ the edge on level 2 are pretty firm and i could tell a diff in top end power.I just put 93 octane and tried 3.It pulls pretty hard on the top end and is alot better on take off.Mine seems to be diff than Chesters though. It shifts a little harder and snappier on level3.If you want the most out of your truck you should just get a custom tuner from Troyer!!I am more than happy w/ my Edge though

Just keep in mind that I have the E4OD transmission. An oddball, that most people don't have.

Hi Justin97,

Those who want the best tuning come to us for our Troyer Performance custom tuning for these vehicles.

Because we have specialized in the tuning & performance modification of these trucks for over 15 years, there simply is no other tuning that does what ours will - and not just in terms of peak hp, but in terms of overall driveability, part-throttle torque, automatic transmission shift characteristics, etc., we go further in depth into the tuning of these vehicles than any of the chipmakers do, because we specialize.

If you will take some time to read the boards here, or do a search on Troyer Performance custom tuning, you will quickly see many, many people here who rave about what we do, you'll see people talking about our public dyno day events, etc.

Your 1997 5.4 has the E4OD tranny, and we have custom tuned thousands of them - the pre-1999 F-150's especially have some specific issues that require a thorough job in the tuning to get the most out of - just give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to answer any questions and go over in detail just what we can do for your vehicle.

Thanks for your post, & best of luck whatever you decide!
