edge gas mileage?

Hi. I recently purchased a edge chip for my 2001 5.4 and was disappointed that my gas mileage did not increase at all. I still drive the same way i used to but still get about 11.5 to 12 mpg. I did notice a little increase in power but not alot. I am on level 3 running 91 octane in it. I also have a k&n intake installed and get that same mileage. So my question is why am i not gettin the kind of mileage all of you are? Thanks

While I don't have the edge programmer, I can tell you that you need to be more specific about your truck. 4x4 or 4x2? Ext Cab, Reg Cab, SuperCrew? Any modifications? One reason that you might not have noticed a big HP jump is the fact that you have a 16v 5.4 vs. the 24v 5.4 in the 2004+ models. Do you know what time of gearing you have?

I think that EDGE Products only claims a 3-5% increase in fuel economy with the exact same driving habits pre-edge. That would mean that you might go from 11.5 to 12.075 mpg (5% increase).

What hwy speed do you drive?
When I'm at 55, my MPG climbs but most hwy speed limits around here are 65 or 70, where I cap out around 15 MPG...

Nobody buys Edge for increased MPG. Even if it got 3 percent better in gas milage thats still less than .5mpg increase. Lets get real, you probably drive it a little harder than you use to anyway, sit back and enjoy

I drive mine much more aggressivly since getting the Edge, but get about the same mileage I got without the Edge. Around town it varies from 16.5 to 17.2. On the highway, it varies between 18.5 and 19.3. I have found that I get at least 1 mpg better on 93 with level 3 than I do with 87 on level 2. So, the 93 pays for itself.

I just installed my edge and i have the 5.4 and on level 2 w/ 89 gas the difference of power is like night and day.I dont know about gas mileage but to be honest i don't really care with the power increase i received.Have you done a tune up to your truck recently?? I got about 17mpg with my truck on the interstate prior to the edge at about 80mph.

You can't expect ANY tuner to increase fuel mileage. It may increase it by minescule ammounts,(trans shift changes etc.) but unless it changes the actual air/fuel ratio, those mileage increases will be VERY small. If at all!
