Thumbs up XCAL2 on '06 Expy

Just loaded the Troyer tunes into the Expy. On the 87 octante tune it's a world of difference! I can't wait to burn through the 87 so I can fill up with 93.

This drive by wire really leaves a lot to be desired, eh?

Thanks Mike, and all of you at Troyer Performance!

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your post - glad to see you are enjoying what we can do for those Expy's, to - there is s world of difference in them, and how they respond to the changes we make to the ETC system have to be felt to be believed.

Have fun!

Mike, are there many differences in the factory program in the Expy, than that in the F150? I've driven a couple "newer" F150s and the Expy "feels" different.

Hi Tom (wittom),

Yes, the Expeditions are tuned a bit differently from the factory and because of that, also in what we need to do to them compared to the F-150 - even though they are just an F-150 with a different body, basically, they have always had significant differences from the F-150.

The Expy's go open loop sooner, they have different transmission characteristics, and of course their ETC (throttle by wire) setup is a bit different, and so on - it's just what Ford feels is more appropriate to an SUV compared to a pickup truck.

The bottom line is, they both respond very nicely to thorough tuning, and the driveability after our tuning is appreciated by owners of both vehicles. So as long as we can get a nice result, we're happy with it.

I'm quite happy with the result. But then, I knew that I would be happy with your tuning. You sent me in the right direction with the '98

so there wasn't a question of what you could do for this Expy. I just remember whan we had to move a bunch of Expys to park our trucks on an event you sponsered, and they felt "peppy". Thoes were 16 valvers too. I figured there was at leasts a small difference.

This big SUV could still use some help. I'm thinking centrifugal on this one, just because I think my girl would "feel" the added power less. Like I've said before, we will see.

Thanks big time!!!

Hi Tom,

Centrifugal blower on a street vehicle?!? Ecch! But you are right, she would definitely feel a centrifugal less due to the boost being dependent on higher rpms & heavier throttle.

That's a strategy I haven't heard of before - just when you think you've heard it all!!

(I'm teasing here with you, of course. )
