Are programmers realy worth the trouble? It seems some of y'all are having alot of trouble. Thinking about getting the edge programmer, but is it worth the hassle?

meh. If mine displayed trans temp, I would say it was worth it without hesitation. It is kinda cool to be able to pull codes on a whim, and the truck is a little faster, so.....

I have the Edge and I dare anyone to try and take it from me. Driving my truck in stock mode is so boring.

I have a diablo sport and i love it best and easiest way to free up some extra power I have never had any problems or heard of any problems with the tuners if you use the pre set tunes The only way i could see you having any problems is if you try to adjust the individual settings like fuel mixture and timing curve and such if you dont know what your doing that would be the only way I could see it hurting anything I think they are definatly worth it

I installed my edge today, and besides having a blown fuse (not the programers fault it was blown a while ago) I had no problems...took probably 10 min. I just pulled it out so I could paint the pod to match the truck. I love it I have it on stage 1 and it definately shifts nicer. It is also nice to have a bunch of little doohikies to look at (MAF, all sorts of Temps. and a bunch of other advantages)

Hi texfd4x4,

It's usually the Edge units you see most people reporting having trouble with, and it's usually things like not having codes in the database for the newer vehicles & some other issues, especially their many updates. Then you will also see some people very happy with them.

We carry the Edge product as well, but we sell far more of our own Troyer Performance custom tuning, as that is what actually gets the best results by far - we have specialized in tuning & modifying these F-150's longer than anyone else, and have custom tuned more of them, so we are well known for our results & our expertise on this platform - which is why so many people come to us for their tuning & other performance needs for these vehicles.

Instead of being stuck with "canned" tunes that are compromised to run on all similar vehicles like those "off the shelf" types of tuning devices do, we provide you with a set of 3 *custom* tunes set up for your individual vehicle and your needs & driving conditions, so that you get the best possible benefits, the best performance gains, the best overall driveability, etc.

Basically, our custom tuning goes much further into the PCM's operations than any "canned" device can do - where they alter just a few tables & parameters, we are optimized *hundreds* of different things inside the PCM, and that is critically important in these F-series trucks, and even more so in the newer F-150's due to their complexity and the fact that they have hundreds of different PCM revision each and every model year - and we do a full 7-digit strategy match on each and every vehicle, not the more generic 5-digits matches that the off the shelf types of products do, and this is another reason why our tuning works better.

You can see plenty of posts here from our customers who are delighted with our tuning, and I hope this brief info here helped as well.

Please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below as well, as we also offer a special discount on our custom tuning to registered members of F-150 Online, so you can get the best without having to pay a lot more.

Thanks for your post, & best of luck with your truck!

Hassle? It's not a hassle. I just got my Troyer tunes and I've enjoyed doing what little work I had to do. Currently running the 87 performance tune and at first I thought, mmmm maybe it's different. But a few miles into it, and I'm never going back. My heavy-a@@ truck is on it's toes now. No more having to step waaaaaaay into it to get it moving. Shifts are firm and it feels like it's always in the right gear. Thanks to Mike. Once I run this tank out, I'm gettin' on the 91 performance. Can't wait.
