No hassle for Edge...kinda plug & play.

I take that back, there is just one hassle with the Edge, my right foot seems to have contracted "lead-foot-itis".

99% of the edge problems are user error. Mine is great.

02 F150 Tuners?

My apologies for hijacking this thread. I'm considering a tuner for my 02 S-Crew. Anyone have advice/reccomendations?

I know the "new" F150 guys mostly LOVE their tuners.

Thanks in advance and again, sorry for the hijack.

No hassle for me, just pure enjoyment...Tuners should be everybody's first mod...of course with the X Cal 2, you can change your tunes with the evolution of your truck, just cost a little...

TP is good too. I should have gone that route (XCALII), and was going to, but got the edge evo instead since I didn't have to wait for the tunes to be customized.

If having to pull 2 fuses to program/flash your ECU is a hassle, then I gladly accept the hassle to have my truck shift like it should and stop that damn 3-4gear wandering at 65-70 mph, which is where i spend 75 percent of my daily driving time.

I like more power, who doesn't, but I really like better driveability and to get that, you have to modify the stock map somehow. I went with the Xcal2/Troyer custom mapping for my 07 FX2. Glad I did.

If someone wants to argue about custom mapping not being worthwhile, come see my Aprilia 1000cc sportbike with and without custom mapping. NIGHT and DAY different. Same for cars and trucks.........The key is, it must be optimized for your specific configuration, that's why custom tuning is better (for the most part) than canned tuners. Like all modifications, you get what you pay for.

What was the problem? Mine were really easy and made a very noticeable difference after a coupla miles. I didn't even have to pull any fuses ( which I would've if needed).

Hi hawkfxr724,

It's not only the guys with the "newer" (meaning new body style, 2004 & up) F-150's that benefit from & rave about the results of proper tuning, but also all of the earlier model years, too.

We've specialized in tuning these trucks for 15+ years, longer than anyone else by far, and I can tell you that proper tuning is the single best bang for the buck performance enhancement you can get. Now don;t get me wrong, it's not going to turn a 2.5-3-ton truck into a fire-breathing monster, but it's the best bang for the buck mod, and does so much for the vehicle,s power, performance, overall driveability, shifting, pure drive enjoyment & pleasure than any other mod you can make short of maybe a supercharger.

So it's not just the newer trucks that benefit greatly from our tuning, but all of them. And your 2002 is not that old, by the way!

The tho tip is to call us and take advantage of the special discount we give F-150 Online members and get into our custom tuning, as that is what will get you the best performance gins & driveability - yes, we sell the of the shelf "canned" stuff too, but if you really want the best results, you;ll want to take advantage of our custom tuning and get the best.

It's like "firebolter" said above in his post - he made the smart decision to come to us for our custom tuning for his brand new 2007 truck, and is very happy that he did - and you'll see the same from our other customers here, too - and there are also a good number here who used to run the Edge who are now running our tuning, and they love the difference.

If you're going to do tuning, then step up a go for the best, it's well worth it - now of course, my opinion is very heavily biased as I am the tuner, but then I've also spent 15+ years tuning these trucks, something nobody else in the world has done - so we know them very well, and we also know what the off the shelf stuff does, as we sell it all -

We'll provide you with a set of 3 different custom tunes set up for however you operate your vehicle and your particular preferences, so that you get the utmost in flexibility, performance, and capability while having a safe tune for your vehicle.

If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below & well be happy to help.

Thanks for your post, & best of luck with your truck!

Hi firebolter,

Thanks *very* much for your post - we're delighted to hear that you're enjoying our custom tuning for your 2007 truck!

And thanks very much for the sentiments you expressed in your post, of if you're going to do it, then step up & go with the best, & some other points you mentioned. Of course I agree with them, but then I am biased, of course!

Enjoy your tuning,
