+100 hp SuperChip?

I was flipping through my SuperTruck Essentials magazine yesterday when I noticed a chip called a Bully Dog 6-position 4-bank Chip that goes from +50, to +75, and +100 hp. I don't really know how a simple computer chip adds 100horsepower to a vehicle, can someone here explain this to me? For $400 that sounds like a good deal.

Ya, it's for Diesels. Amazing what some computer programming will do for them.

Hi Raptor,

Yes, we can easily deliver well over 100 Hp gains from just tuning on those diesels - that is pretty common these days.

These are turbocharged diesel engines we're talking about, and increasing their power is very easy - however, doing it *safely* is another matter, so you have to be careful there.

But yes, we can easily supply you with the Superchips tuning to get those kinds of power gains, no problem.

If you have interest in that, just give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to help!

I had a 2002 F350 7.3 turbo diesel that ran like doo-doo when I first got it in '05 and the Bully dog power pup(130 Hp/??? TQ) was amazing! I lifted the truck with a 8" skyjacker and added 36" Swamper radials and I could still spin those tires at a dead stop with no power braking. The newer diesel technology is insane!

Is there something like this out there for unleaded 4.2's? And how exactly do they work? Where do they plug into? etc..

A buddy has a Juice with Attitude on his f250 and dyno shows 85 hp gain and 100 lbs of torque... However, running it like that for a month he shot his turbo, oil got in his intake and all... Took programmer off and went to Ford, they put new turbo in. Take 2, 3 weeks/500ish miles later burned up another turbo...
So he finally came to the conclusion to keep his programmer off until he upgrades his turbo...
Deisels rock tho.

Hello Raptor,

No, there isn't anything in the tuning world that you can just just plug in and gain 100 Hp with on a 4.2 V6, or any gasoline engine, for that matter.

However, our custom tuning certainly *will* wake that truck up nicely, the 4.2 V6 does respond well to tuning, so if you'd like to get more information on that, and find out what can be done for your vehicle, just give us a call at our number listed below, we'll be happy to help.

We also did the first supercharged 4.2 V6 years & years ago, by the way - those 4.2 V6's can take a lot of abuse and large power gains and stay in one piece.
