Does data log mean run it on a dyno? And what does this do?

Less than 50% of the Xcal2 (Troyers) owners I know have actually data logged or dynoed they vehicles after installing the tunes. Mike has a very high percentage rate if you will on getting them dead on the first time...
Therefore to answer your question there is nothing you HAVE to do except enjoy the new found performance and driveability...

That's what I needed to know, and I do hope to be enjoying very much after I get it.

Marc I have talked with mike and I have basically a stock truck as far as performance goes, but I do have a lift and 33's and I asked him whether I should get the xcal II or gears first and he said the xcal II. I know you have the xcal II and I was wondering how much your performance numbers picked up with it?

So I talked to the people at troyer and got all the paperwork, but my question is do you need to do the data logging before you get the tuner or is that paperwork for after and you need to make adjustments?

datalogging

The datalogging is to be done after the tune is installed.

"IF" you decide to data-log you do it after you install the tuning as Mikes crew has no doubt already informed you.. I went from 208 rwhp to 250 rwhp on 87 octane fuel. I was running 295/70/17 Nittos when I dynoed those numbers..I also have the 3.25" AF1 and Magnaflow catback exhaust....

Is it just me or is that number a little low. I thought most stock guys were dyno'n around 247 or so. Im just curious. Was that 208 all bone stock with that tire.Or is the 247 or so number most likely on 93 Oct.

I have been involved in many dyno sessions of the 5.4's and have never seen one dyno anywhere near 240HP stock. We loose a lot of power through the drive train and especially on 4x4's. The numbers I posted were on 87 octane as I originally stated....The 208 HP was bone stock with same tire and wheel.
I have read several claims of some really high HP numbers both here and on other truck related websites that do seem a little too high with no supporting evidence so you be the judge on those. But 205-220 seems to be the norm on most that I have witnessed..

If thats the case, from what you've seen has it been the norm to loose almost a hundred horses through the drivetrain. Thats roughly 33 1/3 %. Im not sure on these trucks but on the norm dont you usually loose more like 20 % through the drivetrain? Seems as though alot of us got ripped paying for 300 ponies an not getting them. Or do you have knowledge about crankshaft #'s . If these trucks are making the three hundred at the crank? Seems to me I recall Ford advertising the Cobra to make 300hp and they were definatly not getting it so for issued a recall or something and changed something on the intake and the exhuast. thats why I want to go to TP dyno day so I can get before and after results. But If im not getting the 300 I want Ford to know about it.

if you were buying these trucks for the hp then you shouldn't have bought a truck. The torque is were its the most important. These trucks have the best low end torque out of all the big 3. i do agree that these trucks loose a lot of hp through the drivetrain "above normal" but they pack the power that they are suppose to. The 5.4 3v out hauls the hemi and 5.3 so you paid for a good TRUCK engine IMO. The new 6.0L chevy engine is the big mystery. It barely can tow more than the 5.4 3v??
