Edge tire size trouble
Edge tire size trouble
I have a 2001 F150 4x4 XLT and recently installed the Edge Evolution. I'm running 33's and tried to adjust the programmer to the new tire size but when i try it gives me a message saying "This option is not available for this model" Is anyone else having these problems? Does anyone know if an update will fix this problem? Thanks for your input.
Got the same problem. I emailed them and I am waiting for a response.
It may be the ford computer does not support this. I would imagine there would be a way to change the EDGE gear ratio to compensate for this.

Edge does not seem to know why this option is not avaliable. I think the truck PCM does not support it.
I belive the gear ratio would fix it. I have 3.55 with larger wheels and my speedo is 8mph off by the GPS. I switch to 3.40 on the EDGE and its 5mph off. So I figured I would try 3.20 or so.
People say I should not change the ratio but if you think about it the ratio is porportional to the tire size as far as the computer is concerned. It just needs to know how many times the axle rotates to achive a certain speed in each gear.
Thats all I can do for now until they confirm my truck is not supported for tire change parameters.

your truck is like my 1997 expedition i believe in which the adjustment for the gears was doen with replacing a small plastic gear inside the axle. i took mine to a local dyno shop and the put the proper gear but this was done after i changed my rear end to compensate for the lift and the 35's i am running. you will also have to get a chip so you can remove the top end speed limiter cause due to the new adjustments the truck tops out at about 85mph. good luck...
Here is what the rep wrote back after I told him I used the Ratio part to get the speed in line.
"None of the techs knew the answer but the engineer did he said that if you are not able to adjust the tire size then you should not be able to adjust the gear ratio. (He was very surprised at your situation) Where you are able to adjust just one then that would be fine, infact you can actually use the evolution lightning software to find the correct calculation under calculators type in the old and new tire sizes and it will give you the appropriate gear or tire size to type in."
