A pleasant surprise with XCal2
Well I got the tunes from Troyer Performance for my XCalibrator a couple of weeks ago. Loaded them into the Xcal and then loaded the 93 performance tune into the truck. It works great! I can definitely feel the difference. RPM's build faster and the throttle response is 100x better.
But, the unexpected surprise is this. I am getting better mileage with the 93 performance tune than I was with the stock tune. Not a lot, but I was expecting it to go down.
I previously had a Diablo tuner with whatever tunes come with the tuner. I removed the Diablo tune from the truck and went back to stock about 2 months before I got my Xcalibrator and tunes from Troyer. My mpg was about 13.2 to 13.4 on 87 octane. I started filling up with 93 a couple of weeks before getting the tunes emailed to me. The mpg on 93 stayed about the same.
I installed the 93 performance tune and have now driven about 300-350 miles and the mpg has increased to 13.8. And, of course I am still 'testing' the new tunes, which is to say my foot has been on the heavy side.
Bottom line is, I was surprised by this outcome and can't wait to see what happens once the computer has learned my driving style with the new tunes.

Our custom tuning makes more safe & sustainable power than any other tuning, as we have specialized in F-150 performance for 15+ years - longer than anyone else. In fact, we are routinely called by many other tuning companies to lend them a hand with their applications for these vehicles due to our expertise on this platform.
Once the novelty of a new "go fast" part wears off, you should actually see a bit more mpg gain - and if you have our 87 octane tuning, you will see not only nice power gains there too, but will actually spend less money on gas as well - just FYI.
