Edge Lightning software??
Edge Lightning software??
I have been searching here for about an hour now w/ no luck. I cant seem to get the lightning software for the edge anywhere. The link never works on my pc or laptop? anyone know what i need to do to get it? Im a noob to power programmers so forgive me. .
If you have Norton INternet Security or the McAfee Security suite, you probably need to turn them off to get the software to download. I have read posts where other folks had problems with those products interfering with the lightning download. You can try turning them back on after you get the software on your machine. You should go to the download link in the instruction manual.
alright i tried turning it off, and the page still comes up after you click d/l as "cannot be displayed". I dont think i need to update before i put it in the truck. .
The website in the manual doesn't work anymore, you need to go to: http://www.edgeproducts.com/product_updates.php and click on either the first or second download link, depending on the build date of the Edge.

Here is another possible problem for some.
I run Netscape for a browser full time.
The old web address comes up but can't go anywhere from it.
I go over to Internet Explorer and the new website comes up and can load from it fine.
So there site does not now seem to handle the Netscape browser.
I run into this problem about twice a year.

Bluegrass, the EDGE link in post 4 works fine with FireFox. I run FireFox instead of IE or other browsers.

Thats good to know.
I use to run FX back more than a year ago but how many can I use?
I stay with Netscape to help keep the virus and attacks low and seems to work well with Norton. IE is a spare for such problems with websites so I have something to cross check with for a problem.

Wait. You tried the old address with Netscape and the new one with IE? Did you try the new address with Netscape?
Bluegrass,
You can run mutiple browsers without hurting anything, but only one can be set to be your default browser. The default browser is the one that windows will open web links in if you just double click them without opening a web browser first. Mozilla, Netscape and Firefox are all related because they are based on the same code but have slightly different features sets. I am partial to FireFox 2.0, it seems lighter and faster than IE7, and I use Thunderbird for email because of its excellent (free!) spam filtering. It is lightyears better than Outhouse Express.
