Exclamation not convinced!

okay guys, my dad just got a new F150 Screw 5.4 3.55 gears. Now, he wants to know why I tuned my f150 ( canned hypertech ), so I told him about the power, milage, and driviblity increase, but he doesn't believe me.
I trying to convince him to get troyer tunes for my truck and his, seeing as how I got my current tunes with out his Knowledge ( he would have said no if I had ask as he is now) I would like for you guys to help me out with this.
PLEASE. just tell him straight up cause he's watching this thread from his work.

Why dont you just let him drive your truck with and without the tuning installed and let him make his own decision. I had a Super Chips 1714 and was never happy w/ that tuner. I now have the EDGE tuner and it is the best thing since sliced bread IMO.

Its the best $300 i have ever spent on my truck(s)...

Like already said, just let him drive your truck with and without the tuning so he can feel/see the difference for himself..

He's probably got the mentality of somebody that claims they can tell a their brand new drop in K&N air filter added enough horsepower they could tell a difference.

If he doesn't go in with an open mind he probably won't notice a difference. Unless he drives it for a few days on stock...then drives it with the tune for a few more days...he probably won't notice a difference.

The only way he will be able to tell is to drive on stock tune for a few days and then switch to hypertech tunes. I have the X-Cal2 with Troyer tunes and love it. I had to drive for a few days on stock tunes when I upgraded to X-Cal2 from X-Cal1 and it sucked. If your dad is anything like mine then you might as well talk to the brick wall 'cause he ain't changing his mind.

I'm not trying to be jerk but why do you care if he does or doesn't get a tuner for his truck? If he's happy w/ it the way it is then....... I know my father wouldn't spend money on a tuner or a lot of the things that I've done to mine. It's not a money thing, he just buys the vehicles the way he wants them equipped and isn't into "modding". Different people have different ideas of how vehicles should look/perform. For most people, stock everything is just fine. We (the people that spend a lot of money on aftermarket items such as tuners, exhaust, intakes etc) are the exception and not the norm.

Yeah i just got my tunes the other day. I plan on doing a little write up on my thoughts but so far..........

I have beat myself to death for 2 years about getting one..thinking it was a waste and no difference would change...but theres a TON different. I just did a few runs 10 minutes ago and timed myself stock vs tuned on 91 perf and its amazing how quicker and faster it shifts now. And i did take it over 110 lol.

The XCal2 makes a nice noticeable all-around performance improvement & better gas mileage if you don’t constantly hotrod; definitely worth the cake IMO

I have an 04 Supercrew FX4 with the 5.4 3v and I also did not buy into all the "hype" about tuners. Well after 3 plus years and 77,000 miles I just did the Stage II from Troyer. I put the underdrive pulleys, Magnaflow SISO exhaust and electric fans on truck and ran it for well over a month like that waiting for my tunes for the Xcal2. Today I put the Airforce One 3.25 intake on and downloaded the 87 tow tune to the truck. I have a 93 tow and 93 permformance tune also. While I have not driven the truck enough for it to "learn" my driving style, if you cannot notice this, then keep your money because you will not be happy.

For reference I am a 37 yr old married male with a 2 1/2 yr old daughter and a dog. I am also a lawyer. I don't mod my cars but, this was very worth while and I have not even hit the 93 performance tunes yet.

Best bang for the buck if you ask me. I have the Edge for my 00 Ford 5.4. I just recently filled up with 93 octane and programmed for level III. The difference is extremely noticable. Firmer shifting and no lag in acceleration.

Obviously there are several different tuners on the market. Its just up to the individual on which one they prefer.

I can honestly say as someone who owned both, the Edge is WAY better than the Superchips 1714. The others I cant comment on.

I could not agree more with this post. I also have both and the EDGE and the 1714. With the 1714, the change was barely a noticable difference over stock tuning. The EDGE is Fantastic and very noticable difference. While I admit that I've never owned a Hypertech programmer, I suspect it is similar in tunes to the 1714 by Super Chips.
