XCAL2 Datalogging
XCAL2 Datalogging
Does the XCAL2 have to be in a certain mode for datalogging to occur? I have followed the directions on their website to a T but do I need to have the XCAL2 in data capture mode or something?
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi.
No.
Just plug it into the OBD port, ignition on or at idle. You'll hear that cute little startup tune. Hook up the laptop & fire up LiveLink; you'll hear the startup tune again.
Livelink will interrogate the PCM thru the Xcal2 to retrieve your strategy code. At this point you can select the parameters you need.
You need to make sure that the Xcal2 is at the initial screen - don't navigate anywhere else.
This should all be done well in advance of any dyno/logging sessions, both to configure & save the parameters, and to familiarize yourself with the whole thing. Practice. Practice. Practice! Hint:make youself a complete checklist too. This way you won't be scrambling & panicking at the dyno
Oh - on occasion, Livelink will 'hang' - lost communications with the Xcal2/PCM. Don't fret. Simply reboot the laptop - that's easier than going into the Task Mangler & trying to figure out what to kill.
That's it!
Cheers
