also remember i'm about 1000 pounds lighter because of the reg. cab shortbed.
the intake plenum polish is the same as port and polishing a head, or something similar, you have to strip it off the motor, get a good stone on a die grinder and go in there and smooth everything out. there may not be much, but the smoother it is, the better flow you're going to get. (naturally)
after the stone, i went in with a wheel i got from Grainger. It's a drum type sanding flap disc with sotch brite pads in between each flap. gives it a nice uniform face.
theres also a trick i heard from a sport trac guy, which was dyno'd and proven, but i would only suggest it if you're sure of what your'e doing. strip out the butterfly rod, and machine it down so it's oval in shape, rather than round. the drag in air caused by the rod gives you a 10hp (+/-) gain. gain at the motor, not sure what it is at the rear wheels though.
someone else asked me for pics, i didn't take any while i was doing it, but when i strip everything down again, i'll get some.

Hey Dribone, Im wondering if you have any 1/4 mile times. Preferably track times if you have them...

bartak,
i've been tryin to get to the track (closest is either Lebanon valley in NY or New England Dragway in NH) but with work and everything, i haven't been able to.
if theres a warm snap, i might try for it, but i'll have to see.

Id love to see some numbers when you get them. Im curious what these 04+ 4.6's can do. Im trying to find a reg. cab short box like yours, but I can only seem to find 4.6's. I really want a 5.4, but Id like to see what is possible with the 4.6 if I do decide to go for one.
Id like a mid 14 second truck with just the main bolt ons-not sure if thats possible with the lil 4.6 or not.
Does the Edge do 1/4 mile times?

I ran a 9.2 on Level 3,no changes to settings and a full tank of 93.This is with SC 6'bed & 5.4 motor.I think my truck is faster on Level 2 with changed settings. The level 3 does not feel to pull very hard in my truck, like level 2.
I just did my first timed 0-60 in my truck and I got a 9.03 w/ a passenger in the truck. The truck is a 2004 SCREW w/ 4.6 motor. I have the AF1 intake and SIDO exhaust and the EDGE on level 2, 20" wheels and 285/50/20's.
