EDGE settings with 3.25 AF1
EDGE settings with 3.25 AF1
I just cannot get the settings correct for my EDGE. I have an 05 Screw 5.4L with 3.25 AF1. I am getting the too lean all the time with both stock and the 3 settings. The towing setting is bogging me down when I tow. I have more power returning it back to stock. I know my setting are not right. This newbie needs help. Thanks
I'm not being a wise *** here, you are going to have to learn to write into the edge and tune if you want to keep the AF1.I have xcal2 and Troyer tunes so that took me out of the need to learn quick mode!.You need to get an air/fuel ratio meter to see how lean this beast is getting.Goodluck
The EDGE does not correct the Air/Fuel Ratios to make up for the amount of air the AF1 is putting into the engine. The fuel settings in the EDGE custom settings only take effect at wide open throttle. Your best bet if you want to keep the AF1 is to get custom tuning done for your truck after getting the A/F ratios measured and then having tuning written to correct them.
What do you recommend for an intake for the EDGE for a newbie. I don't mind tweeking it little but be able to use the settings 1, 2 or 3 on the EDGE. Will most of the 3" intake fit my purpose. Is there a big difference with the stock intake/ EDGE. Sorry for all the stupid questions. Just wondering what my next step should be.
Some of the other intakes like the AirAid, K & N, or the Volant should be able to work with the EDGE without causing the PCM to trip the lean codes. The other intake that Mike Troyer recommends besides the AF1 is the Airaid so that one might be a good one to try. Tweaking the EDGE will not fix the lean codes. The EDGE was the one thing that made the most difference in performance on my truck.
The 3.25 will flow to much air. Mike recommends not installing it until the truck is custom tuned. Thats with the xcal2 and like otheres have said the edge is not programed to handle that intake. Now I run an AEM brute force on my truck and it works good. I also emailed them at Edge before I bought it to makesure it would work. I got the

I have read the same thing about the AF1 3.25 and custom tunes from TP. If you go with their recommended highest performance setup, what do you do when you have to return your truck to the factory settings before you take it into the dealer?
With my last Superchips tuner, I always returned the truck to the factory setting before taking it in just in case they had to flash my computer. I found they do not always tell you when the truck is still under warranty.

Thats a good question. I would assume that you would want to take it off as well to protect your engine while it is in stock mod for the dealer. I don't know if Mike will chime in on this thread but you can always give them a call.
Redrascal,
I called and spoke with Crystal last Friday, but I did not think to ask this question as it did not occur to me until reading this post. It seems all of the people who have bought the 3.25 AF1 will at some point have to return to their factory settings if they take their trucks in for service. Seems like a big hassle to change your intake every time you need to go in for warranty work.
As a side note, she was very busy with the phone ringing off the hook on Friday, so I will give her a call today and hope things are a little slower... :o
