No problems so far. Had mine since December last year and over 15,000 miles.

Constantly revving over 5,600rpm’s will eventually balloon the torque converter but other than that you’re OK

Thats a pretty bold statement coming from a transmission guy considering the Edge for the pre 04's have only been on the market a few months (not including beta testing).

Hi.

That's just some CYA on the part of the tranny guy, but is has some merit.

I think the issue is that, regardless of tuner, most will allow alterations/removal of the top speed limiter, max rpm, shift points and tranny line pressures, (unless those limits have end-user restrictions embedded for sanity's sake as can be done in a custom-tuned X2, if the tuner person chooses to implement same).

Otherwise, it's entirely possible for an end-user, in their zeal & because they can, crank up those limits to a point where damage is possible if those extended thresholds are met with regularity.

That's why the warnings and disclaimers exist in the user manuals. If you search back, there were several such warnings issued for cranking line pressure on a stock (non-beefed tranny). Same goes for TC ballooning due to exceeding rev recommendations.

Basically your tranny lives or dies by the person rationalizing the settings ...

Safe guidelines for all those parameters are well known & documented, yet lots of folks ignore them anyway.

As always, common sense loses to testosterone.

Cheers
Bubba

You will not hurt the converter at all unless you are reving it higher than 5500, which starts to baloon, as stated above.

I ran the Edge Evo on my previous truck for over 10,000 miles and it didn't hurt anything as far as I know. I'll be putting it on my 06 once it is broken in.
