Mike Troyer and Comp Cams, question for the king.

Here is my project:
5.4 3Valve forged engine
Livernois stage II ported heads(oversized valves)
60lbs injectors
Whipple S/C 23psi+
dynatech dual true headers(custom work)
MonsterBox + total domination torque converter(2500 stall)

Expecting more than 700RWHP

Mike, my big dilema is that my F-150 2005 weights 6000 pounds and i need A LOT of torque. I am afraid if i install CompCams i will gain HP and maybe loose TRQ and that's all that i want to avoid. I was thinking about the 127300 or 127150. I think the 127350 it's to radical and not a good idea for a daily driver.
Do i install new Comp Cams or i keep the stock ones ? If so, which one in the chart will make more HP without loosing low end torque? I don't mind about rough idle as long as i don't loose torque.
Thanks for your time.

Sweet Jesus!!!!!! Those are some CRAZY engine modifications.

You're going to have to upgrade the drivershaft and brakes (to allow you to stop that monster in less then 1 mile) right? What about traction bars to avoid snapping your rear end from wheel hop?

Best of luck to you! Talk about a sleeper. Some poor kid is going to pull up next to you with his radio blasting and not be able to hear that engine. Then think he's going to burn the fat truck next to him and woosh before he even blinks that fat truck is gone.

Forgot to add the drive-shaft F150Duke, will be a PST carbon-fiber and Brembo brakes.

Youre adding 23 lbs of boost and you are worried about torque????? Im not sure that you will be satified with this beast as a daily driver...... things start going bad that you wouldnt expect when you lean on them like you are about to.....
occasional driving is ok, but daily driving is another....

good luck, keep us informed. sounds like a killer project!!!

you need the cams to take advantage of the ported heads, you need to look into a nice torque convertor, Mike can hook you up.

You wrong BROTHERDAVE, i can take advantage of the ported heads using my stock cams. Just ask Livernois, Foxlake, Patriot or JDM.
The reason i want the cams it's because i want more HP.
I don't need to look for a torque converter because i found one already, just read my mods, i think you missed the total domination by monster box.

The difference between the 127100 and 127150 is the exhaust duration. The 127150 is what I would go with. You will need to drop your gears at least a notch. I went from a 3.55 to a 3.73.

The deal with the cams is they will allow you to make the same HP with lower boost. If you keep the boost the same then your HP will come up as well.

The reason for the longer exhaust duration is that you are forcing air into the motor. With the longer duration you are keeping the valve open just a tad longer so that the extra gasses can escape.

127100 is good for a NA motor with both the intake and exhaust the same duration.

Anything more radical than the 150 and you will not be happy with it unless you set it up as a racer.

oh and with the whipple TQ is not a problem at all

I'd like to ask you this question since you appear to know a lot about these mods I'm going to ask.

How much would it be to do a Whipple SC, Brembo brakes (rotors, calipers, lines and fluid), then one other performance upgrade you would suggest?

few suggestions:

drop the jackA$$ attitude

mike has PI convertors, they are the best

make sure you check out others experience with the current jasper monster box transmission.

ported heads and stock cams is like taking a shower and putting your dirty underware back on...

23 psi, 700 hp, dont know if i need different cams? sure this is going to happen

Hijacking wasn't my intention, but you can't send and recieve PMs till you have 100 posts.

Besides Troyer doesn't usually get to threads that don't have a certain number of posts (meaning it isn't the hotest topic), so in a way with this post and my previous one I'm helping you out.

No problem, I understand. There is a good chance you'll get a quicker response from Mike if you call him. Sometime he misses a few threads here and there as a result of the fact the guy works in the shop non-stop.

Not only that, but I bet you and Mike would have a ton to talk about regarding other performance modifications and that conversation would be more efficient over the phone then typing it all out on the computer.
