The title may be a bit untrue. I like the Edge and can feel a difference in the transmission shifting. I set it to level 2 and it has done almost everything it says it should do.

I checked out the Edge site several times before buying. Made sure it did what I wanted and it seemed to be just what I wanted. But after getting and installing it the PID I had wanted and thought was the most important to me was not there. I wanted the Transmission Temp. My boys and I do quite a bit of towing and thats what I bought it for.

But after buying I cannot find the TFT PID. I update my Evo and it still is not there. I call Edge and they tell me it will not be there ever. I had checked the PDF file which was on line and made sure that the item would do it and they even have a picture showing it doing it. I like the performance, but this just sucks!

Just venting. I'm better now.

Ya that is my only complaint about the Evo. I however have an autometer tranny temp guage that sits in a pod right above mine. I was gonna get rid of it but I guess I'll keep it instead.

 

I'm thinking the PCM on your model truck does not send/monitor that data, so it won't send it to the Edge.
On my 05 it does. I think it's in the PCM.
Not sure why.....

Just because you can't monitor the tranny fluid temp/ If that was what you wanted, get a temp gauge.

 

I agree, mine has it. But I am not using it right now. I am monitoring the temp of the water, engine and the air intake. I like rotating around, just to see all is well. I did not realize how close the engine temp and the tranny temp stay to the water temp. Shows the cooling system is really doing it's job.

 

i know its the same problem i have i want the tranny temp, the tranny has a temp sender because the diablo preadtor i sent back, to get the edge would tell me what the tranny temp was, but predator was a hand held unit and i wanted something i could mount on the dash so i don`t think it would be that hard to put in the pid`s they can have two diffrent mpg pids just replace the instant mpg with the tranny temp.???

 

Engine temp & water temp are the same - one is usually inferred from the other by the PCM, as there is usually only one sensor.

If your tranny temp is approaching or exceeding your water temp, your system is not doing it's job...

From the TCCOA web site:

"And since [trans] fluid life is cut in half for every 25 degrees increase in temp above about 170, it's best to know the hottest fluid."

One other point about the single point of failure the Edge represents if you are relying on those gauges for serious engine health monitoring. If it fails or is removed, you lose 'em all

BTW - y'know, I coulda sworn I saw that PID in Livelink for my Y2K (NSI2) PCM. If that's the case ( anybody here with an Xcal2/Livelink care to check this?), then there is no reason other than a lack of will for this parameter to be missing....

According to the guy I talked to they were not going to add it.

BTW the manual and brochure also say there are 14 PID's shown, but there are only 11 listed and only 11 in the Evo.

 

yeah i was just looking at jeg`s website at the A- pillar pods would like to know the oil pressure and trans temp, so i`m problay going that route with white face auto meter gauges, so anyone know that the dual pod will fit when the edge is in the same location ??

 

Could someone please clarify exactly what are the exact 11 PID for the Edge Evo for 97-03 F150's?
