edge plus inspection?????

just had my truck inspected and had the emissions done. when getting back in my truck and firing it up i noticed the edge not on???? i looked down and it was unplugged. i had truck running and just plugged it back in. it worked but said level 0. i had it on the stock level 2 from edge. called the dealer and they said they just had to unplug it to do the emissions test. so, do i just reprogram it? any thoughts before i try and have a no start? need advise please! LOL

I suspect you had better contact Edge. Looks like it would still show level 2.

Not me!

is it possible that they returned it to stock before doing the emmissions?

Drive it first and see if it feels like its in level 2. Maybe someone else there return the truck to stock. Next time pull the unit before it goes to the dealer you dont want anyone messing with it.

from what your saying it sounds like they set it back to zero and unplugged it. you better get on their asses and find out what they did.

i believe from what youve told me so far that itll be fine and drive like stock, you can probably program it now fine, but thats just my opinion

You know here in order to get a state inspection they hook up to the obdII port to do the emissions testing. I bet they unhooked your edge to do the test it seems to me.

correct.....but i am not sure why it is at level 0.....i wouldn't think they would know to do that and they said they only unplugged the unit to plug in their tester.....so, still trying to figure out if i should try to reprogram it, or will i have a no start or other problem....

It would suck getting stuck with a no start condition. If I were you I'd call edge tomorrow and discuss your dilema with them.

I remember one of the EDGE updates was to correct the tuner getting confused and not identifying that the PCM had EDGE tuning in it when it was unplugged from the truck. I also seem to remember that if you try to reprogram it in that state that it corrupts the PCM programming and results in a no-start and the tuner will refuse to go back to stock. You really should leave it as is, do not attempt a reprogram, and call EDGE tech. support ASAP.

When I had this problem with my Edge (before selling it) if I remember you need to hook it up and go in the menu, then load previous setting...this will sink the Edge back to the PCM.....
maybe this will help ya out...

Hey Jim,

Please post back if you find out what they (Ford dealer???) did when you had it inspected. I'm also in PA and had my inspection done last month. Returned to stock a week prior, read that trying to get tested with a program could send a p1000 code and the emissions test can't be completed. Really curious if it's possible to pass with a tune loaded for future tests.

As for the condition your truck is in now, I wonder if they left it tuned and plugged in the OBDII tool which could have boogered something in the PCM that the Edge depends on after loading a tune. If it was a Ford dealer doing the test they may have reflashed your truck

I'm with starbiker, you should be able to plug and unplug the Edge in while the truck is on without issue. The issue with plugging/unplugging needs to be cleared up...
