Edge Progammer Help

I just got my edge programmer and it says it needs to be updated. Does anyone know what I need to do? Tech support is already closed and I am more than a little pissed that they shipped a product that needed to updated right of the box.

Did you download the most recent lightning soft ware and follow all the steps in the book. If you plug in the edge to the computer before it says to you could get errors. Also sometimes firewalls will affect installation of the software. Try those out.

Why do ya'll even go through all of this? Buy the XCal2 from Troyer and be done with it. I have heard and seen to many threads with people with the Edge that are having update problems. Seems like too big of a hastle. Just my .02

I guess my choice was better than his huh. I did the research. No complaints on XCal2. Plenty of complaints and difficulties on Edge. Seems like a clear cut choice to me.

You must have been reading the thread from the Beta testers. I love my Evo II. The XCal2 sits on your shelf like a dead fish, whereas my Evo has all the gauges that I was going to install. I can actually USE mine on a daily basis. It has much more function than just a tuner.

But, if bashing the guy makes you feel better about your XCal...

They have to bash the Edge because they need to feel better about spending more, and getting less.

Its no problem. Ford changes the pcm codes and sometimes it may not be supported. So you have to get an update. Enjoy the edge.

Just a quick question. I read the direction on the edge, but it doesn't state if the engine is running or not when you go to program it. If I start my truck can I change the tune while it's running or just turn the key to on and then program?

Do a search of this website before you run your mouth about the EDGE, you will find just as many problems with the Xcal2, and others.

Engine must be off.

Begin by turning your ignition key to the OFF position.

I think I'm going to end up getting an edge because I like the gauges and the TP tuned xcal2 for the custom tunes. Don't call me indecisive.
