Comparison between 2 Programmers...

Edge Evolution

vs.

Xcalibrator 2

Which one would be a better buy for my 98 F150. So far it has exhaust, and intake, I'm looking to up the performance a little more.

I will pay either price, what one would YOU buy?

The Edge for your truck is still in beta test. I would go with an XCAL2 with Troyer tuning.

MZ89:

Just recieved my tunes from MT for my XCAL2 on Sunday. To say that I am ABSOLUTELY ECSTATIC would be an understatement. His tune did exactly what I asked for. Now from what I have read on these forums the Edge is a good product, but I think the custom tune made the difference for me.

Alright these are sort of new to me, how do you "recieve" your tunes? Are they downloadable files? Do I have to go to his place to get my truck tuned?

Fill me in please, thanks alot.

The XCal2 holds three custom tunes. You pick out what ones you want, for instance I have an 87max, 93tow and a 93max on my XCal2. Your tunes are custom made for your truck and loaded on the XCal2 ready for use. If by chance you need something changed with a tune you’ll be able to it via an email attachment and the SCT software, SCT Live Load 3, which you can download for free from their web sight

You won’t go wrong with TP’s custom tuning, I highly recommend it

I think it will answer a lot of questions about the difference between all the tuners.

Yes they are downloadable. Mike had a concern (rightfully so) that my truck like many others did not have the strategy loaded in the PCM that was posted on the sticker. In order to verify it, he sent me the XCAL II so I could use it to read the strategy that was loaded. I emailed him back the strategy code and a couple of days later, he sent my tunes to me attached to an e-mail. I loaded them into the XCAL II myself, then loaded one of them into the truck. Very simple and I love the fact that after I datalog, if there are changes that need to be made, Mike can make the changes and send me a new file. Very cool indeed.
