New 1715-A Few Questions

I just picked up a used Superchips 1715 MicroTuner for my truck at a great price. I am pleased with what it has done for my shifting and is noticeably torquier. I do have a few questions though...

This is the tuner with three programs. Do the tow-perf and high-perf tunes both use the same trans charachteristics?

I like the way the truck shifts much firmer at WOT. However, the tuner is set at MAX settings on all the shift points and shift pressures. Is this OK? It was like that when I plugged it in. I put the adjstments down to stock but it felt, well, stock. The manual calls the max setting the "superchips performance setting" or something like that. I hope it is OK to use the max settings, because it feels really nice. WOT shifts are now at 5200 RPM as opposed to 4800 stock.

I plan to use the tow-perf mode full-time so I don't have to swap tunes when I do tow. When on the freeway in OD and I let off the throttle, the RPM goes down and I feel some engine braking. I like this, but am curious what is actually going on. Is it the converter locking, unlocking, etc??

I have a larger set of tires on the truck (285/70/17). I programmed in the tire size as 32.75"(BFG claims 32.8") but the speedo seems too far off. Does the tuner know what gears and stock tire size I have? How can I get the speedo set correctly? Trial and error?

I hope these questions made sense. Thanks for any advice!
Brian

For those of you interested...

I did some (lots of) searching on here and found some of Mike Troyer's replies to similar questions. He recommends bumping up the 2-3 shift point 2 notches and leaving all other settings in the middle setting. I did this and got a solid 1-2 shift at 4900 RPM and a solid 2-3 shift around 5100. I bumped up the 1-2 shift point 2 notches as well and ended up with a nice solid shift around 5200. I am so far pleased with the tuner, although I wish I could have firmer shifts under normal driving. I guess that will have to be done through a modded valve body.

Any input is welcome.
Thanks
Brian

With custom tuning you can have firm part throttle shifts. That’s how my 93-max tune is set up, they start out firm right off the bat, and the more pedal I give it the harder the shifts get
