Edge Evo problem

I will post for you guys a copy of the e-mail I sent to edge today. Let me know what you guys think.
__________________________________________________ _______________

I am having a problem with me Edge Evolution programmer I purchased on ebay on the 15th of June. The Part# is EEF2400 LOT#020628.10 VERSION# E3.13.14a. My truck is a 2004 F150 4x4 with the 5.4L

When I first installed the unit in my truck it worked fine and I had since updated it to the latest firmware and calibration versions I have run it on level 2 since then. Tonight I returned the PCM to stock and removed the unit to update it as I understood that there was a new version of the software available. I updated the unit and to the best of my knowledge everything went as it should. I then went to reprogram my truck. I replaced the edge, reconnected the cable and turned on the truck. The unit initialized normally, I then went to program it to level 2. I chose not to make a custom program and then turned off the truck as normal. The unit then proceeded back to initialization and disclaimer screen. I tried to program the truck again and I got a DTC code. I received the following codes.

DTC 1 of 4

P0606: Powertrain Control Module Internal Communication error.

--Description-- P0606 indicates register readback (PCM internal Communications) error.

--Possible Causes--

- Damaged PCM

DTC 2 of 4

P1000: Monitor Testing Not Complete.

--Description-- The on board diagnostic II (OBD II) monitors are performed during the OBD II Drive Cycle. The DTC will be stored in continuous memory if any of the OBD II monitors do not complete.

--Possible Causes--

- Vehicle is new from the factory

- PCM has recently been reprogrammed

- Battery or PCM had recently been disconnected

- An OBD II monitor failure had occurred before completion of an OBD II drive cycle

- PCM DTCs have recently been cleared with a scan tool

- PTO circuit is shorted to VPWR or B+ or PTO is on during testing

DTC 3 of 4

P2105: No additional information is available.

DTC 4 of 4

U0300: No additional information is available.

Despite these the truck starts and runs normally. I then removed the unit and updated it again on my PC. I then again attemped programming with no success. I did not receive the DTC codes again.

Can you please review this problem and let me know if there is anything that can be done or if there is a problem with the unit.

Thanks

The truck starts and drives fine, its not throwing CEL's and all seems normal. The only thing is that I cannot clear that P1000 code.

The p1000 code can not be cleared. It will clear on it's own after some driving cycles. Just means your pcm hasn't learned your truck yet.

Well I feel stupid, I spoke with the guys at Edge and they figure that the problem is likely that I had the Evo connected to the truck when I turned the key on, thats a big mistake after re-programming the unit. I was pretty sure that I was following the instructions but it is possible that that's what I did. I guess I will give it another shot tonight.

Ok, this is strange. I took the instruction booklet out to the truck with me tonight and followed it to the letter, no go. I decided to update the unit again to see if that would help. Same thing. I was starting to get pissed. Tried it one more time without disconnecting the unit. The stupid thing worked. It programmed just fine and I have my beloved level 2 back. I guess lesson here is "If it aint broke, dont fix it." Seriously pissed me off though, I half suspect that something isnt working as it should. I wont update again unless there is something seriously wrong that needs fixing.

They've been having some issues with their site this week if that is what you are refering to? I looked at what they were offering on the latest update and didn't feel the compulsion to do it afte 15 server timeouts, lol.

I had a goofy situation after I had the autostart alarm installed. We took the Edge out as part of the trouble shooting and when I went to reload it it kept coming up with an error/unable to load and prompted me to update it.

I thought that it was having problems with the cops system or something and that I'd call Edge when I got home. I drove to lunch and for kicks tried it again, no update, nothing, just that the truck had been turned over and driven about 5 miles. It loaded fine. Ghosts in the machine? Don't know. Wierd though.

The BETA update is for the 97-03 trucks. The 04- is not a beta release.

Been talking to them almost daily. I'm helping with the beta test of the 97-03 tuners.
