Which programmer
If you want the biggest hp & torque gains possible, coupled with the best drivability at any speed, you want custom tuning. The XCal2 would be the programmer and IMO Mike does the best custom tunes so you’ll want to give Troyer Performance a call.

No Hypertech
All I can tell you is don't get the HyperTech 2 tuner, I tried it on my 02 4.6l, and it was a waiste of money, I would say get an intake, and some exhaust first if you don't have them already K&N of course, after that a tuner may help you out a bit more, but if you're not towing, or pushing 300 to 400 Hp, and running 93 octane Hypertech is not worth it. And the custom tuning is quite expensive! Good Luck. JT
I have to say that I disagree about the Hypertech. I have the Hypertech Power Programmer III on my 05' and like it a lot. With that being said my little brother has a 99' 4.6 4x4 and got a hypertech because he knew I was happy with my results. There is a deffinate difference in his truck. Before it was a dog, but now it is a lot more responsive and a lot quicker. The key is to have someone program your truck that knows what they are doing. How to change the rev limiter and shift points. So I vote Hypertech, not to mention if you go to autoanything.com you can pick one up for a lot less than the MSRP.

Try this link. I think they still need beta testers for their new edge evolution programmer. It is a great deal that is hard to pass up.
