my first impression, xcal2

I got the XCAL2 last week but didn't have a chance to load a tune untill this weekend.

My first impression: stock sucks! I loaded the street performance tune and it was night and day. I thought the truck was quick stock, but this tune proved to me that it was sleeping on the job. This tune woke it right up! I can't wait to try the drag strip tune! They have done it many times before but Mike and Troyer Performance really came though!

One question for all of you using the XCAL2. Do you disconnect the battery before you remove the fuel pump fuse? The owners manual says to do so, but it seems like it would be a PITA to have to do that every time. What do you all do?

Thanks again Mike, and all of you at Troyer Performance. I'm quite pleased with the new found performance my Lightning has.

I installed a negative battery terminal disconnect, makes it easy. I had to notch the oem battery cover a bit to get it to fit, but it looks clean.

Call me weird, but I didn't d/c anything at all. I don't have amps or any external power sources that needed it but I didn't d/c the fuel pump fuse or the negative battery cable.

It says in my docs that that there is no seperate fuse for fuel pump itself so don't worry about it. That is for the newer '04s on up. And for the pre '98s it says you have to d/c the battery cable, so again don't worry about it.

I have switched between all 3 different tunes, back to stock, etc. with ZERO problems. Takes about 2-1/2 to 3 minutes for me to load a tune.

You already said you loaded a custom tune so you are in good shape.

beowulf, mine is a heritage (old body style) so we have slightly different instructions about this part.

Sorry man, I really didn't notice your sig when I posted....I just looked at what year your truck was.

Good luck though in resolving your question.
