Mike, can you tune a Mark VIII?
Mike, can you tune a Mark VIII?
I don't want to bug you while you're busy working on all those F series', but I am thinkin about a 98 Mark VIII (since its a 290HP stock block) I was wondering if you can tune those. I would assume so, but I'd like to know before I jump onto one. I would of course, modify the crap out of it. You know, the basics, blower, exhaust, hopefully a 400HP lincoln cruiser.
Take your time responding, even email if you'd like, its not on the top of my priority list or anything, just trying to think about whats next now that the nav is almost competely done and want to make sure you can tackle it.
Thanks
Brett

I've been tooling around with the idea. I mean, can't you see me putzing around town in a Mark VIII destroying the competition light to light, and them going WTF is with this guy? A navigator that sounds like a Nascar and a Mark VIII that will befuddle everything else?
Hi Brett,
Yep - I loved the Mark 8's so much I spent over $100K buying 3 of them, a couple of them new and another one slightly used. Also got a chance to see one of the NASCAR prototypes, back when they were going to run a Lincoln in Winston Cup some years back.
So yes, I have owned & tuned a good number of the 1993-1998 Mark 8's.
Now since you have a 290 HP model, that would be a true LSC with dual exhaust and the slightly shorter gears, as opposed to the standard 280 HP fake-dual exhaust models that also came with a card saying it was an LSC model - but it wasn't. Only the 290 HP units were true-dual LSC's, and they are the most desirable for Mark 8 fans - though they're all nice cars.

I don't think I had told you guys about the old 94 explorer I was driving, but for some reason I decided to post it for sale for more than it was really worth and a couple schmo's came up and bought it the next day, asking price. Looks like the Mark is closer than I thought!

I am having a little trouble locating a mark. Anyone that knows of any, say within 700 miles or so of Atlanta let me know. Further away than that, still let me know and I'll check on shipping as well. I want a 98 LSC model, prefer black or silver but will consider all options at this point.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys

I know the owner of DF Concorus and have been approached about helping him with product testing in the future... BTW, his towels are the *BEST* on the market -- and I'm not saying that because I know the guy. They're TOPS.
I saw that one RP. No offense to you're buddy, but he's on crack if he thinks he can get htat much for it. There is a 1998 Collectors edition (1 of 1236 or so made) on ebay right now that has 6400 miles on it for $14500. I am just not looking to spend that much. I've got my eyes on one in Jacksonville FL, its a 98 LSC with 80K miles for $5500, owned by an old lady. Might drive down there next week. I'd really like to find one in VA so I'd have a reason to go and see mike though.
Yeah, I tend to agree. It's a bit out of line on the price... I don't think he wants to get rid of it very bad. He still makes the best towels on the market though... hahahaha!
I may call him for some samples of the towels. I had seen that car on some of the mark8 forums. Don't get me wrong, its real nice. (he calls it MOOSE) I just don't care for something like that, I want to drive it without the worry of everybody else on the road
That is indeed a beautiful Mark 8 - it it's price were more in line, I'd probably buy it - but then I'd never do it justice, a car like that needs a home where it will continue to be pampered & polished, etc., and that wouldn't happen with our schedule!
