Headers on, waiting for tune Mike T.
The headers are on my 05 f150, and am waiting for my tune. Neil told me the best way was to read the strategy from my xcal 2 and sure enough ford had flashed my computer. I have the af1 3.25" but am waiting for the tunes to install it. Really stoked here. one problem, the headers took a long time to install. The locking bolts are almost impossible to put on, and seem not to fit in some areas. anyone else have this experience. So far i happy as a bee.
My exhaust installer just could not get a few bottom Stage 8 locking clips on...couldn't see or feel some or the bottoms...your not the only one...some of my bottom bolt needed tightening...not sure if the gasket shrank or the bolts slightly loosen'd.

Hi BigTom,
Actually, it just takes some work to get the Stage 8 locking header bolts on - we've done this a number of times, and they can always be done, it just takes work. They are not the easiest thing to install, no question about that!
But every vehicle we have done them on we've gotten them all in, including the 2004 & up 5.4 3V's, we've done them a number of times - it just takes more time & work, basically, in our experience.
They are certainly enough work that a first-time installer (even an experienced installer on other vehicles) on these 3V's might want to give up on them, but we've gotten them all on every 5.4 3V (and every other vehicle) we've ever done them on - it just takes more work. And it's the same Stage 8 locking header bolt for Ford 4.6 & 5.4 modular motors, there is not any special different Stage 8 locking bolt specifically required fr the 3V engines - they are all the same in this regard, they work on all 4.6 & 5.4 mod motors. That's really about the best I can tell you on this.
