I would guess 15 horsies and a little better mileage. They really don't turn on much and IMO very worth while. It was a good upgrade, and when it kicks on, people are like WTF? You will notice the power though.

That's a good response, the typical power gains run anywhere form 12-17 HP at the rear wheels depending on exact model year, and the MPG comes up a bit as well, as you are reducing parasitic losses.

One thing to keep in mind is that installing a quality e-fan kit is not for the "novice" - it should be installed by someone used to working under the hood - just FYI.

How does the E-fans work? Does it take the place of the motor driven mechanical fan or is it in addition to the normal fan?

Takes the place of the clutch/mechanical. "Efan" = electric fans, reduces the parasitic loss created by the mechanical fan, freeing up horsepower and improving cooling & overall efficiency. Getting one for myself within the next couple of weeks.

Side note, I am debating between the Troyer efans and the Flex-A-Lite kit, anyone have any opinions on one versus's the other?

I opted for the flexalite fans for the integral shroud that mounts in stock location. They pull a huge 5k cfm, and have a digital controller for soft start and variable speed. They had issues with a bad fuse block for a while, but that is resolved. They replaced my fuse block and controller, no questions asked. But so would you if you had a potential lawsuit. I like the flexalite, and I like Troyer (world class tuner and F150 guru). I have no experience with his fans. However, they are Derale fans, and I have his Derale powered active tranny cooler which is T!Ts! Here is how they look:

Desperado, thanks for the info. Your install looks great. Tight engine compartment, in more ways than one.

I like my Flex #270 because of the shroud, fit and ease of installation...the #270 is direct bolt-in for our Fords.

Looks like he got them from Jeg's

If you search this forum you will find some disappointment in the Troyer fans with mounting concerns, control dependability and wiring difficulty. The Troyer fans themselves are good quality.
Good luck.
