Attn. Mike T.

Hello Mike,
I finally put the ported blower on with your new tunes ( took me long enough). It seems to be running real good. I will be data logging it this Fri. the 21st. Do I need to talk to you beforehand?

Thanks,
Peter in Vermont

Hi Peter,

I'm Sooooo glad you finally got your ported bower, MAF extender, & new tuning all installed - (make sure the MAF Extender is set to 5.5volts).

Yes, I DO think it would be a good idea to talk with me before you datalog, that is always a good idea for us to go over everything & review the procedure to make sure you are fully up to speed on everything, so that you get all the data we need the first time.

Now any time you increase the MAF meter's electronic capacity, you also dramatically alter the math required to dial in the A/F's, so that may take more than 1 adjustment, that's pretty common. It would be nice if you could bring the truck down here and have us do all the datalogging & dyno & tune-tweaking for you in one shot. But if that is not possible, we can always do this "remotely" - meaning by simply emailing your data in to us and me making the changes required until I'm happy with the A/F's.

That ported blower is going to wake that truck up, you will hear more blower howl, especially as the rpms rise. On mine, when running on the street or at the track, the blower is so loud at full-throttle that you cannot hear anything else - not the engine, not the exhaust, not the melting tortured tires, etc. - man it's big fun!

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the tunes. It's running rich (safe) but I'm getting it data logged this Fri. It did pull about 60 more rwtq from 2800rpm to 4K compared to my last dyno sheet. HP was the same. Also I'm seeing 14# of boost w/ the 4#er. I'm sure everything will increase once you tweek my tunes.

Thanks again,
Peter

P.S. to all:
First I want to say that Mike has been tuning my trucks for going on 7 years. We have never met personally (my fault) but there is no one else that I would let tune my truck. So if any of you have any reservations about Mike tuning your truck put them to rest. You won't regret it.

I'm very interested in this because I talked to Mike about the same mods for my HD just last week.

Keep us updated

Hi Mike,
I guess I didn't let the adaptive strategy take hold before I dyno'd last week. I had it data logged last fri as you probably know because I had them Email you the info. You did an excellent job on the initial tune when I re-dyno'd I had 407rwhp and 488rwtq. I can't wait for my tweek tune. Then I'm going to beat up the ricers at the track

Hi Peter,

I have not had a chance to look at the data yet, but yes, it is sometimes surprising how much effect adaptive strategy can have.

Also, it's very hard to compare data done at different times, as you just never have 2 days with identical atmospheric conditions, and that has a big effect on power, especially in factory-supercharged Lightnings, Cobras, & Harleys.

Usually that same combo with a 6# lower will dyno out at 420-430 RWHP on our dyno, and 500+ lb/ft of torque - but dynos vary quite a bit, too - so I'm not really a dyno-numbers nut, I'm really more interested in the driveability and the actual performance of the vehicle.

Another factor is that there is 20 to as much as 30 HP of variance between "weak" versus "strong" Lightnings from the factory in bone stock trim - (even though there are also a number of them that are pretty consistent). For example, my 2001 Lightning was one of the "weak" ones from the factory, and it took a good deal of work to get it to where it is now.

Talk to you soon,

Thanks for the reply Mike. Maybe I should have put my 6# ring on Will I be able to put the 6# on without a re-tune? Just check the A/F. Will I be safe at 16# boost? What is the difference between a 4# and a 6# rwhp & rwtq wise? I was hoping to be in the 400/500 club.

Thanks, Peter
