Mike Troyer While Im Waitin

While I'm waiting for my tuning, will my f-150 be ok with headers, the 3.5" AirForce One intake, on the stock tune, or isit going to light my dashboard up?

I won't attempt to give an answer just FYI. I have a '06 F-150 with E-fans, AF1 (I'm not sure if it's the 3.5in), and Magnaflow cat back...they have all been on there for a month or so...I have been waiting for the Troyer tune and have yet to see a problem running with these mods w/o the tune.

I don't know what anything about your truck, but I am pretty sure Mike has said before on here that the 2004 and newer trucks shouldn't run an intake kit without knowing what the air/fuel numbers are because most of them run too lean. I would call Troyer to be sure.

Hi bigtom,

The 3.0" AF1 is safe to use on the stock tune - however, the 3.25" (which is the largest ID ever used) needs adjustments to the tune, it really makes a big difference that additional 1/4" diameter, you;d be amazed.

What happens is, the engine will lean out, and so we make an adjustment in the tuning to take care of that. The really nice thing about the 3.25" AF1 is that it raises the peak power point from 4700 rpm all the way up to 5200 rpm, but WITHOUT reducing power at the normal peak of 4700 rpm - so it's great for those who want maximum all-out power.

And for those who have the 3.0" AF1's, that is a fine kit as well, and the only thing that out-powers it is the 3.25" AF1. And if you ever decided you just had to have the 3.25" unit, we can upgrade the tube itself and do the tuning changes needed, too.

Now as far as the headers, no problem there - just bolt them on & enjoy them.

And we'll get your tuning done just as quickly as possible, if it isn't' done already by now - and thanks for your post!
