XCalII and new gears question

hey everyone!

i called troyer performance today but the one girl i spoke to said she'll have to see what mike wants to do about my situation. I know they are very busy there so i understand how i might not be answered right away.

my quick question for everybody here is -
i'm getting 4.10's installed tomarrow and i know the XCalII will need to be recalibrated to function properly with the new gears. When i get the truck, should i drive around without a my 89 performance tune, and return the truck to stock until i get the upload from mr. troyer? i dont know if the shift patterns or something would be out-of-line with a new gear ratio.

also another quick question - when i put my larger tires on, i ordered a new speedometer gear to get back to having an accurate speedometer. now with 4.10's, should i put the stock speedometer gear back in?

thanks for your help and input everybody!

John

I think I saw Mike mention in another thread that the xcal2 allowed you to change the rear end ratio in the device without getting a recalibration. I don't know for sure since I don't have mine yet (Still probably 3 weeks away)

yea you probably can with the newer version of the XCallII, but because i ordered mine last year, mine isnt programmed to allow me to do that. thats why the girl i talked to on the phone said she has to talk to mike because they might have me send the whole XCallII device back and get it re-programmed. i'll be sad if that happens, i want to drive around with my tune in all the time!! but oh well, thanks for your response though jmcmike!

I asked basically the same question and got this reply from Mike. Can't say that I know how to make the changes yet because I am also waiting for my XCAL2.
