3 valve head on 2 valve block

Mike,

Aside from the mechanical issues can the 2 valve PCM control the 3 valve head? My PCM has the driver for the IMRC. Could that driver be used to control the valve timing? I can solve the electrical issues of activating the hydraulic timing control using the harness for the IMRC.

Thanks

Jean Marc

Hi JMC,

Good to see you - I just called you the other day & left a message with your son!

In short - not a chance. (well, realistically)

In addition to needing the proper charge motion control valve parameters in the PCM (which you do not have, you have IMRC), a 3-valve engine requires matching 3-valve engine PCM, CAN wiring harness, knock sensor system - oh, and remember a little thing called variable cam timing? And some other stuff, too.

If you are looking for more cylinder head flow, I can make you a great deal on a set of cams that actually aren't damaged, and a very cost-effective proper port job on those existing 2-valve cylinder heads as well, that will allow you to pick up a nice 65-80 HP gain in the process - just give me a call.
