EDGE Gauges
EDGE Gauges
I thought it would be interesting to discuss the details of some of the gauges on the edge. Most are self explanatory, but my question is about the MAF and MAFV. What exactly is it measuring there?
First off good idea on this thread topic! The manual goes into an overview of the parameters that are capable of being monitored, but for the ones that are not self explanatory, this will be a great thread.
MAF: is used to get a round-a-bout measurement of Air/Fuel ratios
MAFV: A voltage representation of MAF (from sensors) according to the book. For what this does, someone with more knowledge will have to answer on the benefits to this gauge
I am guessing it is taking the information of the MAF readings and converting into voltage???

If its measuring the Mass Air Meter, then I would guess its showing the volts running to the mass air meter. Recalling my 5.0 Mustang days, the Mass Air Meter works by heating a wire element, and measuring how much power it takes to keep that element at a specified temp. As the air blows by, the wire cools, thus telling the motor there is more air flow... I think. Hope this helps.
While on the subject, I have ?? regarding Output shaft speed and Turbine shaft speed. According to the Edge manual, if OSS=TSS, tranny has no slip. Now I had it on when driving down the freeway today, noticed #'s began to different as speed was increasing. Now I'm hoping I am not having any problem with my tranny?

Overdrive is not 1:1, so the numbers will be different.
Try it again with the O/D turned off.
