Can you lose Stock program with XCal2?

I've ordered but don't have my XCal2 yet. I got to thinking about the stock programming. First you download it into the XCal2; then you load the program of your choice. What are the possibilities that the XCal2 would somehow lose your stock program? Let's say it is 5 years later and you want to return to stock. How foolproof is the storage in the XCal2? Or would the dealer be able to reflash your stock program in the event it were lost?

A dealer can re-flash your vehicle.

The correct answer is, the odds of the XCal 2 "losing" your stock program are far less likely than you getting hit by lightning.

Yes, of course any Ford dealership could always reflash your vehicle back to it's stock tune, but then you wold have to unlock the XCal 2 and have new tunes done, so that would not be the preferable way to do it. the smart way to do that would be to have us simply supply you with a unit that would flash your PCM back to ti's stock tune, and then send you a replacement XCal 2 loaded up with your original custom tunes again, as that would be covered under your Lifetime Warranty, unless you stored the unit at temperatures and/or humidity levels above or below the specs for the unit.

So the cure, even in a worst case scenario which we have yet to see, would be to simply have us send out a device loaded with your original factory stock tune, flash the PCM back to your stock tune, and then we'd replace the XCal 2 under warranty, loaded up with your original custom tunes so that everything works correctly.

In short - it's just not a concern - but it was a good question!
