Programmers for 97 F150's
Has anyone here used a tuner or any chip on a 97 F150 v8 or v6. If so was it worth the money and which do you believe is the best on the market for around $500. Also I wanted to know if its possible to stack a chip with a tuner and if that is worth the time and money. Thanks for all responses...j.g.

Just say NO to stacking: <from Superchips Website FAQ section>
"Q: Can I stack a Superchips performance product on top of another product?
A: NO! Superchips does not recommend the stacking of our product on top of any other performance enhancing chip, module or tuner. Superchips will not warrant or be liable for any damage caused by the stacking of our Superchips product on top of another performance enhancing chip or programmer."
It would be the same for other brands as well, so forget it.
For a lot less than 500 clams you could get a custom tuned Xcal2:

First, all you need to do is spend a few minutes reading some of the posts here, and you will quickly find out that yes indeed, it certainly is worth using the *quality* tuning products - though there are also some very crappy pieces out there.
In general, the best tuning is the single best bang-for-the-buck performance enhancement yo can make, because nothing else for the same or less cost will improve overall performance of the vehicle more - now that does *not* mean that a tune is going to feel like a supercharger, of course not - it simply means that world-class custom tuning is the single best bang for the buck performance enhancement, and thus us where most people start their mods.
What will get you the best results is to have us do our Troyer Performance custom tuning loaded into the XCalibrator 2 - and right now we have a Group Buy going on for that piece for registered members like yourself - here's the link to take you to that info: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=227214
(Oops! I just noticed that MGDFan already posted that info for you)
And as the others mentioned, no, you *cannot* 'stack" tuning devices like that - power via tuning is not some never-ending well you can continue to dip into by just throwing more and more devices at it, it doesn't' work like that. There are a few piece in the *DIESEL* world that do that, but only because it's manufacturers who cannot do the tuning properly in one device to begin with - so they'll do dumb things like fuel adders, and then a pedal map altering device, etc. so stack together - it's a lot of marketing hoopla, in other words - any device that cannot handle all the tuning in that one device should be steered clear of - proper engine tuning is done in *one* device, not multiple devices, so stay away from those kinds of things, or claims that you can "stack" devices on gas engines - you can't do that at all on gas engines, and in the diesel world where you can, it's done only as a marketing ploy to get you to spend even more money, and/or because the company just cannot competently control the PCM with a single device - which is all of the inline fuel adders, basically, in the diesel world.
I hope that gives you a bit better understanding on this, & please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below if you;d like to go over this in more detail.
Thanks for your post, & best of luck with your truck!
