Tuner Question?

I have a 1997 f150 with a 4.2 v6. I currently have a cool air intake, dual exhaust, and a microtuner. My question is how much of a difference headers or electric fans will make with my current mods.

All help is appreciated.

Man, that's a pretty truck!

Actually, what you need to worry about right now are upgrading the fuel injectors - the stock injectors on those 4.2 V6's will only support a max of about 245-250 Hp at the flywheel.

So right now, there are only 2 modifications you can make that will add power to the rear wheels - that would be our underdrive pulley, which will get you 8 more HP at the rear wheels, and then our electric fan kit, which will get you about 12-15 more Hp at the rear wheels.

You cannot do headers right now, as that will actually raise engine power and you will not have enough fuel, as you have stock injectors.

Rather than type all of this out, give us a call when you get a chance and we'll be happy to go over this in appropriate detail with you, as while headers are a great mod, you cannot raise actual engine power any further until you upgrade the fuel injectors - which also means you will need custom tuning to compensate for the larger injectors. So for right now, the only mods you can do are reducing parasitic losses, which do not actually cause the engine to make more power, but DO send more power to the rear wheels and improve performance just like adding actual engine power - and you;ll also get better fuel mileage.

Just give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to go over all of this with you, if you like, OK?

Thanks for your post & good luck with that pretty truck!
