Tuner rookie needs expert help

Hey you all...I just picked up a 1714 tuner from a friend at work for $150. Now before I get yelled at...I plan to buy an xcal2 from Mike when I can...but at $150 I couldn't pass up the deal. I have never used a tuner before and from reading the forum I can't wait to see what difference it actually makes. I have a few questions if you all have time to give me your two cents. I have a 2004 with the 4.6L . I plan to use the 91 octane performance tune. I also have upgraded my factory rims from 17's to 18's and the tires are 1" bigger and I can my speedo is off..another reason I wanted the tuner.

#1. Is it best to just load the superchips standard settings? If anyone has found any good changes please let me know!
#2. On the performance tune..can I still haul the normal truck recommended weight...I dont tow anything?
#3. Has anyone had any major problems with this tuner...my truck only has 12000 miles on it, and I don't want to create any problems.
I guess I'm looking for any advice from you all that have this tuner...thanks and Mike I hope to get one of your tuners someday!
