I have the Xcal2 with Troyer Tuning. I am completely satisfied with the product and the tunes. In addition to delivering tunes you can read codes on any OBDII Ford and erase them, you can datalog any OBDII Ford. and it holds 3 custom tunes as well as your stock tune. It will load a new tune in about 6 minutes , except for the first time when it has to upload the stock tune. (takes a little longer) The Troyer custom tunes are second to none. I run the 93 octane performance tune for daily driving. Its like a new truck, the torque managment system has been recalibrated to allow this truck to run the way it should. I dynoed 250RWHP and 331Torque for my initial datloging, Mike is now working on my finalized tunes. The transmittion shifts are much better and my truck is fun to drive (maybe too much fun, I cant keep my foot out of it) If you are considering this product take the time to give Mike Troyer a call. His knowledge, customer service and attention to detail is spectacular and a very rare thing these days. You may pay a little more but you will recieve tunes that deliver as promised. ( if you follow his directions and do the dataloging so your tunes can be tweaked to perfection) I hope this helps with your decision

There are many programmers available for your application. I suggest you research each one and make your decision based on the information you find. Everyone here harps on about this Xcal2, but if you're like me you're not going to wait 4-6 weeks for something someone else can do in 10 days. Also, if you don't have some pretty serious mods, I don't see a reason to wait for a custom tune.

Hi patshea,

In all of 30-60 minutes or so of reading here, you can and will very easily find hundreds of our customers here who literally rave about our custom tuning.

We have tuned more F-150's, and have been performance tuning the F-150 platform longer than anyone else - period.

Which is why the majority of people come to us for their tuning, especially in fixing the many driveability and performance problems present in the 2004 & up F-150's like your 2005 model.

You can get some kind of "tuning" anywhere - but you cannot get what you get from us *anywhere* else, despite what a couple here who have absolutely no experience whatsoever with us like to claim. Such as the myth that it takes 4-6 weeks to get tuning - the ACTUAL timeframe as of this very moment is 14 business days from the time you complete our custom program worksheets to the time we complete each of your custom programs, one by one, and actually ship your new custom tuning out the door. Of course, we have no control over how long people take to fill out their paperwork, or what method of shipping they choose, so those who take their time, and live the farthest away and choose the slowest method of shipping just might take a month of CALENDAR days from the time they order to the time they get it -

But the truth is, as of this moment it's 14 business days from the time we get your CPW's until the time we ship the finished product. Most people who have just spent $40K on a brand new vehicle tend to think that's pretty reasonable for the best tuning available from the company that has specialized in F-150 performance longer than anyone else. So by all means, do take some time and read what our customers have to say about us - you'll quickly find they are generally a very delighted bunch, who come here and rave about their results -

You have a beautiful truck, the best made IMHO, and you have a very serious investment to take care of - people in that situation usually want the best for their vehicle. As good as your vehicle is, it is lacking in numerous important areas I'm sure you are probably already aware of or have experienced some of, such as the sad lack of throttle response if you need to get out of the way, or the slow & sloppy transmission shifting (which is horrible), and lack of overall power despite the claim of 300 Hp from the factory for the 5.4 3V engine (which is rarely hit with as low as the full-throttle upshift points are in the factory tune), the slowness of the powertrain's overall response, it's poor fuel economy, and numerous other issues that can be improved to make it a *far* more enjoyable vehicle to drive.

We have specialized in the tuning of the F-150 platform for over 14 years - longer than anyone else, so we have a lot of imitators. We custom-tune more of these F-150's than anyone else - which is why most people here come to us, for our experience & results - and why other chipmakers actually call us in for help to improve their own applications!

That simply cannot happen if you are not generally considered to be the best at what you do by many people who actually have direct hands-on experience. Our customer satisfaction rate is the envy of virtually everyone in this business.

You as the vehicle owner have to do whatever you feel most comfortable with - If you would like to get the facts of just what really is possible with us tuning your vehicle (and of course, we can take any F-150 to any power level the owner desires, including everything from daily drivers to 1000+ HP monsters), please do feel free to give us a call at our number listed below.

And make up your own mind from there.

Congratulations on your new truck, & best of luck whatever you decide!

Merry Christmas,

At the risk of sounding like a "KoolAid Person", Mike you certainly made a great case for an Xcal2 tuned by Troyer Performance.
If I didn't already have one, I would order one. I have had many other generic chips and other mods.
What you did to my 3 ton beast, already supercharged and running strong, was WAY beyond what I expected. A neat little added bonus...better driveability and reliabilty.
To the naysayers who have little more than an opinion...here's to ya

Hi Desperado,

Thanks for the kudo's, you're very kind.

In reality, your truck and it's configuration are one of my favorites, where it's supercharged and needs the right sized injectors & MAF and a correct tune, and a lot of fun to do - we gain a TON of power, and vastly improve overall driveability and fuel mileage as well (well, when the owner can keep their foot out of it, which is not easy to do once they're happy with it running they way we make them run!).

We appreciate you having faith in our abilities and allowing us to tune your supercharged truck - thanks ever so much for your post, & we hope that you and your family have a fantastic Christmas!

If customer service is important to you then give Mike Troyer a call. In spite of some naysayers the wait wasn't that long....2-weeks for me. If someone can't wait two to three weeks for their tunes then I would say they have immaturity issues! If you want the best get in line cause Mike is the man

I wasn't knocking anything, you'll notice I said "I suggest you research each one and make your decision based on the information you find. "

The 4-6 week comment was from when I was in the market for a tuner when I emailed asking for info, and 2 weeks later I got a response. Take that 2 weeks, plus 14 days, and thats a full month right there. (just stating the facts here) Now, granted, maybe it was a busy time but by the time I got the return email I already had a chip with a custom tune burned and installed.

Again, not being an AZZ or anything, but a quick search nets similiar situations

vortech saleen 31 days

texas wolf 43 days
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=219163
tigga 37 days

4 weeks = 38 days
6 weeks = 42 days

Those were the numbers I was seeing when I was pondering a TP tune. I was even pondering getting one done the first of next year to see if this "miracle" of tuning is true, but I feel like I have been underhandedly slammed for simply posting my experience. I was lookin at my tune needs in late october, and thats what I experieced. I am all but the shot messenger here.

You can get some kind of "tuning" anywhere
That is correct, some better than others and some not worth calling tuning. I personally used Diablosport for my tuning, with they're deltasport chip since I have a 98 and there is no predator made for it, nor will there ever be. I also know that they are teamed with C&L, Dynojet, Paxton, Powerdyne, Procharger, SLP performance, Snow performance, Steeda, STS turbo, Vortehc and WHipple in their business. So the tune I chose wasn't an "off the street" by nobody tune.

Now Mike, I mean none of this in a foul manner. I would still like to try your job and see the differences. If you could email me or even PM me on here (I am on daily) I would appreciate it so I can determine if you can work somekindaa magic on my particular vehicle, as no one else has ever done anything like me as far as I know

Thanks

I guess I'll take the silence as a "no I don't want to work on your truck" or maybe a vacation during christmas?

I was serious several months ago when searching for a tuner about trying TP and his xcal2. After two weeks, I finally recieved a reply to my emailed questions. Just because I bring to light that 14 days wasn't even in the realm of reality when I requested info on services, doesn't mean ignore me. Maybe its just me, but I have found that my money, your money, Ese's money, it all spends the same (except of course for the peso, it spends 10.4 to 1)
