Troyer Performance Question...
Hi Ed,
First, just FYI, as you've probably seen any number of us say over the past month or so since you signed up here to actually be able to make posts here, it's always a good idea to get in the habit of using the SEARCH feature any time you have a question, as virtually anything you can think to ask has already been covered many, many times, and thus is available 24 hrs a day - such as your question, for example, which is among what we call "the basics" around here.
Just FYI............
No, there is no way to load 4 custom tunes into the XCal 2 - nor is that really necessary in reality. You get a total of 3 custom tunes in the XCal 2, and that is plenty for anyone - you only have 1 from the factory.
The ability to add 3 more custom tunes to that gives you a total of 4, and that is quite enough for any reasonable uses. In fact, added to your factory stock tune, by ordering the XCal 2 from us with the right combo of tunes, you can end up with *exactly* that combination of 4 programs you listed, with your factory tune serving as the 87 octane towing tune.

I have used the search function many times. I did not get the answer I was looking for so I posted for an answer. What I was looking for is info. on the type of storage for the tunes...meaning are they hex files or what. With hex files, I don't see why a 50 cent larger chip could be in the tuner for more tunes. May be off base, but that was the answer I was looking for. Thanks.
Hi Gobra,
That is an excellent question - and if you had a 2003 or earlier F-150, then yes, you could use our 4-program custom chip.
But for those who own a 2004 or newer F-150, their PCM has to be flashed, as it has nowhere to mount any such traditional chip - well, setting aside the very few 2004 "Heritage" model old body style F-150's that were made just to use up some leftover 2003 parts and keep one of the Ford plants open a couple of months longer - now for *those* 2004's, they still have the older EEC-V PCM, and thus *can* use our Part# 6600, the 4-program custom chip.
If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below.
Merry Christmas!
